  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So advertised boneless chicken wings are allowed to contain bones, and it's the customers responsibility to know this.

I got to say if presented with an advertised boneless chicken wing, I would assume it did not contain bones.
Funny, the majority opinion writer compares it to "chicken fingers", as in: No one would think "chicken fingers" on the menu means it actually comes from chickens that have fingers. What a moron.

No evidence of small print, unless I'm missing something.
It’s more of a saying. Some companies can say a food has zero calories if it’s less than five calories. Their is ways to deceive people.

Sorry for the confusion.

Clearly if a food is advertised suitable for people with life threatening allergies the supplier is immune from prosecution.

After all the customer has a legal responsibility to assume everyone is a liar.

Sure why not? Fat free can contain fat. Sugar free can contain sugar. It makes perfect sense.
And when a police officer points a gun at you, 'stop or I'll shoot' only reasonable to ignore as it must be a lie just as boneless wings.......

Hey a judge ruled you can ignore what advertising says.

Rather than boneless wings, a more accurate term would be deboned wings, with a disclaimer warning about bones.
Usually, boneless "wings" are chunks of chicken breast...not wing meat at all. As I read the story, that was the case here.

And when did you find breast with a bone? Never.

Sure it is! I buy this all the time: Robot or human?
It's rare to ever find a bone in it, but I've gotten one on occasion. Never thought to sue anyone over it though.
I've also found an occasional bone in my Hungry Man Boneless Fried Chicken TV dinners.

I would certainly say, as the story is presented, that the Ohio Supreme Court is wrong. It's possible that we don't have all the information.

If someone calls something boneless, it should have no bones.

If these wings are processed breast meat there is literally no legal excuse for bones. None.

Think about it, it is processed, if you deliberately advertise it as boneless you should be wholly liable.

Only if one is litigious enough to be bothered by it. No product is perfect, especially when it comes to food. You can buy Cashews or Almonds, and there will be a warning on the label saying, "May contain traces of peanuts". Most likely because the same factory processes peanuts. But should it say "Peanuts" on the main label as a result?
As for chicken wings that are boneless, there may be a trace amount of bone still there, but that's to be expected.
