It doesn't matter. The duty of those officers that day was to protect Donald Trump. They failed to do their duty. It doesn't matter what excuses they can come up with or what shadowy conspiracy they might have been the tools of or what they might or might not have heard from local LEOs. They failed. All by themselves without any help.

Not necessarily. When you are assigned some detail you nay not be part of tge protective detail. Guiding cars is not exactly part of the security at the event. They may not have even been read in on the whole ops plan. So protection may not have been part of thier duty.
