When a believer dies, will he be with God as a sentient being right away?

Assume that when a believer dies, his soul-spirit will immediately be present in heaven as a conscious person.

Does this 'dead' person experience time like a living person?

No. Living people experience time within the four-dimensional space-time framework. Further, people living in the International Space Station technically age slightly slower than people on Earth due to the effects of time dilation, a phenomenon predicted by Einstein's theory of relativity. Their passage of time slows down compared to that of people living on Earth. When P1 died 2000 years ago, time stopped with respect to P1. He could not sense time or space since then.

Jesus resurrected Lazarus in John 11. When Lazarus died, I don't think he went up to heaven to be with God as a conscious acting being. If he did, then Jesus would have to pull him away from God and return him back to his earthly body.

What about a wicked person who is destined for eternal condemnation? Will he be sent to hell to suffer before the last day of judgment?

If yes, then a wicked person who died 2000 years ago would have been tortured for 2000 years in hell according to some Christians.

No, he will be treated like anyone who has just died. When a person dies, he becomes unconscious, and his soul is stored in a secure place.

When a believer dies, will he be with God as a sentient being right away?

I doubt it.

When Lazarus died, Jesus had yet to die on the cross and be resurrected and taken to heaven. Before any human could have been accepted into heaven. First Jesus had to be accepted, so no human who died before Jesus was accepted into heaven. Went to heaven when they died, they went to the paradise side of Sheol. So Lazarus may have been with Abraham in paradise and was taken away from there to finish out his earthly life.

When a person dies, he becomes unconscious...

Except they do not...

Genesis 4:10
"And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground."

Abel was crying after he died.

And of course...

Luke 16:23
"And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom."

The Rich Man was conscious after death.

Hebrews 11:39 These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, 40 since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.

Peter literally writes of the Bricks in Heaven that build up the Kingdom that are built upon the Cornerstone that the Builders rejected. We are the bricks. Jesus is the Corner stone. The Bricks end up with the Corner Stone in Heaven.

1 Peter 2:4 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

Revelation 3:12 The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name.

I can't emphasize enough... THE CLOUD STUDY IS IMPORTANT.

Revelation 11:11
But after the three and a half days the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them. 12 Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” And they went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on.

PENTACOST! THE BREATH ENTERED THEM! Paraclete! (Come up here.... And they went up to heaven in a cloud!) That's all that Die IN JESUS CHRIST!
Acts 7:55 But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. 56 “Look,” he said, “I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”
57 At this they covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him, 58 dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their coats at the feet of a young man named Saul.
59 While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” 60 Then he fell on his knees and cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” When he had said this, he fell asleep.

Stephen Followed the First Fruits! Heaven OPENED FOR HIM! He was excited to go meet Jesus! He literally quotes JESUS! Do you really think that The Son would let his "Son" Stephen... ROT IN THE GRAVE? Did HIS Father LET His Son rot in THE GRAVE?

1 Corinthians 15:20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

Which is why, indeed, that Jesus was the First Fruit of the Impending "Harvest" of the earth which takes place right up until the First Fruits are caught up into the cloud that is on it's way back down, in the NAME of a very awaited event. :D

@tonychanyt I won't have hurt feelings if you take the like back. What I'm saying with the word "IMPENDING" is that we are currently headed home, immediately upon death.

I've exegeted a book on this matter. It's time to ask some questions.

Bible Verses to proof this below quote of yours, Please: However before you answer with the normal verses... Please take this as Biblical "Context"
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for.
Many of the people that you claim are still "IN THE GRAVE"... are listed in-between the passage above and the passage below:
Hebrews 11:39 These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, 40 since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.

And what is the encompassed Context of Hebrews 11?
Hebrews 1:1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.

So, since Hebrews 11:39 closes with the words "God had planned something better for us so that ONLY TOGETHER with us WOULD THEY BE MADE PERFECT".... What are these people waiting for that is Better than Jesus?

Tonychant: The soul data is saved at home with the Lord. The soul has a definite temporal beginning. Its animation life (consciousness) depends on the breath of God.

The bible describes the grave (death) as a sleep ... a dormant state for the masses awaiting His return and the 1st resurrection.

A "soul" is the complete person ... we are mortal ... there is nothing immortal about us ... that happens when Jesus returns or in the case of a few special resurrections as stated in His word.

There were a few exceptions ... Moses and Elijah were a couple of exceptions. Enoch another and

Matthew 27:52-53 New Century Version (NCV)

The graves opened, and many of God's people who had died were raised from the dead. They came out of the graves after Jesus was raised from the dead and went into the holy city, where they appeared to many people.

Nothing indicates that Lazarus was taken to heaven. Jesus waited 4 days until going to see Lazarus so there would be no question that Lazarus was in fact dead ... and then resurrected him back to earthly life to increase peoples belief/faith.

By performing the miracle on the 4th day after Lazarus death and burial, Jesus was demonstrating his power and authority over death itself, that even a dead person could be raised from the grave, even after rot and decomposition had set in the body, by His express command.

Have ya looked into the context Greek per the Septuagint and Hebrew for all other formatted roots of those passages that you are confident, in?

And now, for context.... I'll exegete these out and bind them to their direct siblings within scripture if necessary. Are you certain that you want to Keep these verses, that don't bode well for the Christian Mortalism Stance?

Ecclesiastes 9: Indeed, I took all this to heart and explained it all: the righteous, the wise, and their works are in God’s hands. People don’t know whether to expect love or hate. Everything lies ahead of them. 2 Everything is the same for everyone: there is one fate for the righteous and the wicked, for the good and the bad, for the clean and the unclean, for the one who sacrifices and the one who does not sacrifice. As it is for the good, so it is for the sinner; as for the one who takes an oath, so for the one who fears an oath. 3 This is an evil in all that is done under the sun: there is one fate for everyone. In addition, the hearts of people are full of evil, and madness is in their hearts while they live—after that they go to the dead. 4 But there is hope for whoever is joined with all the living, since a live dog is better than a dead lion. 5 For the living know that they will die, but the dead don’t know anything. There is no longer a reward for them because the memory of them is forgotten. 6 Their love, their hate, and their envy have already disappeared, and there is no longer a portion for them in all that is done under the sun.

7 Go, eat your bread with pleasure, and drink your wine with a cheerful heart, for God has already accepted your works. 8 Let your clothes be white all the time, and never let oil be lacking on your head. 9 Enjoy life with the wife you love all the days of your fleeting life, which has been given to you under the sun, all your fleeting days. For that is your portion in life and in your struggle under the sun. 10 Whatever your hands find to do, do with all your strength, because there is no work, planning, knowledge, or wisdom in Sheol where you are going.

I'll even give you a hint. Paul referenced this passage in a way that actually fully disagrees with "Christian Mortalism".

I don't see a response... I'll give more of a hint. I dropped the GRANDADDY of ALL chapters within one of my supporting verses FOR the IMMORTAL to ALL of Creation SOUL, that FULLY REFUTES Christian Mortalism.. and you've actually just accidently referenced the exact passage with this passage. To add a bit more information... You've actually posted supporting Scripture to the stance of the Immortal Soul directly in reference to a verse that you responded to, out of the verses that I provided.

Eat, Drink... For... TOMORROW

Interesting enough... You have one of the best passages in your signature to help understand the intended "Context" of Ecclesiastes 9.

John 4:9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Revelation 20:4 Then I saw thrones, and people seated on them who were given authority to judge. I also saw the people who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of God’s word, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and who had not accepted the mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with the Messiah for 1,000 years. 5 The rest of the dead did not come to life until the 1,000 years were completed. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of the Messiah, and they will reign with Him for 1,000 years.

Revelation is an odd book. It is all out of order in MANY ways. In this The Devil is said to be "Chained". The first question is, what is the Beast mark on the Forehead and the Hand, at this point? Does scripture say that there is only one beast for one SINGLE time?

To be more direct... Does the Devil have the same Power that He had before Jesus died on the cross? Pharaoh's Sorcerers could turn staffs into literal snakes. Have we seen that kind of power, recently?

2 Peter 3:
7 It is by that same Word that the present heavens and earth, having been preserved, are being kept for fire until the Day of Judgment, when ungodly people will be destroyed.

8 Moreover, dear friends, do not ignore this: with the Lord, one day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like one day 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some people think of slowness; on the contrary, he is patient with you; for it is not his purpose that anyone should be destroyed, but that everyone should turn from his sins.

Thought Provoking?
