Genesis 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

If this were any other translation we could write this off as a translation error. But the people who believe in a literal Bible believe there are no errors in the KJV. So how do they explain the word replenish? Was there a earth here before that needed to be replenished?

We see this again in Genesis 9:1 where Noah was told to replenish the earth.

Genesis 9:1 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.

God created earth as a picture of Heaven, that we can only realize from our own conclusions, being everything, God created he said was good. The Earth became void and dark meaning lost and without love. The created Earth has turned to corruption by humankind by all the measures you see today and continue to be this way until we die a physical death and faithfully join our Father in a real Heaven, or a new Earth meant to be after all darkness is destroyed or kept in chains. Earth looks to be a place of Hell, but when you have God in your heart, he speaks through you to be fruitful, mutiply and replenish the earth. This means to me, to produce the branches of God bearing good fruit, multiply your good bearing fruits to others and fill those around you who have fallen short of Gods true intent to love each other. Replenish your love back to others holding God in your heart and the light of God to shine from you. Love others, being fruitful. Multiply growing your faith consistently with God and Replenish meaning to give God your love over all other loves taken from this Earth. Don't replenish yourself apart from God. Let God be the answers to all your questions.

Those who hold to the "gap" teaching know that the earth was previously "plenished" in "the world that then was."

2 Peter 3:6 KJV
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

After this "preadamic" flood, it had to be "replenished."

What does it mean to replenish?

make full or complete again

to make full or complete again, as by supplying what is lacking, used up, etc.

depends on the context of use ...

I know what replenish means after Noah's flood. Why would replenish mean something different in Genesis chapter one of the KJV.
Context, context, context. :D

Are you saying the KJV is out of context in the use of the word replenish in Genesis chapter one?
Yes, and I demonstrated that by showing you all here those other English translations as well as the definition of the word according to Strong's Concordance.

So you are not KJV only. OK that is fine. The Bible College I attended was KJV ONLY. The other translations could be used as a commentary as you are doing to help us better understand the Bible. But they do not have the authority that the KJV has.

I attended two different Bible Colleges in the 80s. Those schools were Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, TN as well as Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Mo. At the time, most of the professors at those 2 schools preferred the KJV, but most were not KJV only.

No translation does an adequate job of translating the Bible. But when God says " “For I will hasten my word to perform it.”." I think He is talking about the KJV when we seek the promises of God. Jeremiah 1:12 I do not like the word it, but that is what the Bible uses. So I say God watches over His word to perform what He says He will do. As the say the promises of God are conditional. IF we do our part then we can be sure that God will do His part.

I disagree. I believe that there are more than a few translations that do an very adequate job of translating the Scriptures.

You do not realize how much does not get translated. That is why so many people study the original language.

Hi I believe the God who loves us and wants us to know who he is what he has done what he is doing and what he will do in the future will give us his word in a language we can understand.
And I believe the KJV and the ESV are more than adequate for that purpose whe we start delving into ancient languages we tend to start changing the words as we have them in the KJV ESV wich I think is not permitted.

Love and Peace
Dave

Science tells us a lot about God. Even agnostics and atheists tell us a lot about God. All of creation is evidence for God.

If an atheist or agnostic attempts to tell us anything about the Lord God that contradicts the Scriptures, then they are demonstrating their very human fallibility as well as their bias against the Lord God and His Scriptures.
