Two more years and I retire. My projections show my take home pay will be higher then it is now.I’m actually surprised just how much better off I am financially now that I have retired. My quality of life has risen.
That's great! I wish everyone could say thatTwo more years and I retire. My projections show my take home pay will be higher then it is now.![]()

I wish i could decipher your answerI feel like the answer to this question would depend a heck of a lot more on what I did for the last 4 years than anything anyone else did.
I mean, unless someone hit me with a car, I suppose.
And I didn't really deserve to be hit with a car.
I would say that I am doing better now - but the political parties then, now and in-between, economics, inflation whatever have had little if anything to do with that. 4 years ago I was 2 months away from separating from the woman I am now happily married to. When you put life into context like that, I don't really care too much about the specific policies of parties. Also, I don't have children and am over 50, so I'm not as heavily invested in the direction or policies of the country as a parent might be (and rightfully so).I wish i could decipher your answer![]()
That's the most you said in your time here, lol. I'm glad you got it all out. Whew!I would say that I am doing better now - but the political parties then, now and in-between, economics, inflation whatever have had little if anything to do with that. 4 years ago I was 2 months away from separating from the woman I am now happily married to. When you put life into context like that, I don't really care too much about the specific policies of parties. Also, I don't have children and am over 50, so I'm not as heavily invested in the direction or policies of the country as a parent might be (and rightfully so).
However, I'm extremely dismayed and alarmed that the political parties now, 4 years later, are serving up the same two candidates again. I think that will almost certainly lead to an (even more) explosively contested election result if it doesn't go the way a particular one wants it to for a second time in a row.
At that point, what the political parties do will likely have a great deal of impact on the lives of everyone. Even for someone like me it's difficult to ignore something like a coup or a civil insurrection. And, I'm not really certain that one should at that point?
Well, we'll burn that bridge when we come to it.
Hopefully, we won't, but we shall see.
Still, everyone seems to be marching steadily towards the bridge from both sides of the river for the second time, so I expect things could get interesting when we all meet on it.
It's funny how humans never learn.
4 years ago, the world was seeing the beginning of a global pandemic. Therefore, I believe a better question is:Economically speaking?

Were all better off now because were over the pandemic but it was economically behind the question.4 years ago, the world was seeing the beginning of a global pandemic. Therefore, I believe a better question is:
Are you and your nation better off than 5 years ago.....before the Covid 19 global pandemic. Everything changed dramatically for a vast majority of the population during the 2020 pandemic which continued on throughout 2021.
Yes, we should be asking whether we are better off than 5 years ago. Were all better off now because were over the pandemic but it was economically behind the question.
Yes, we should be asking whether we are better off than 5 years ago.
OK, the vast majority are much better off than they were during the pandemic. So, of course, Biden should be re-elected by a large majority. The same way we decide the Super Bowl champion by who was ahead at the end of the 3rd quarter.
The global pandemic of 2020 and 2021 changed everything, and I am not just talking about the economy and about those who died during that pandemic. The same way we decide the Super Bowl champion by who was ahead at the end of the 3rd quarter.
IMO it is unreasonable to hold any single person responsible for the entirety of a nation. The idea that who we elect has some correlation with job creation and economic activity is beyond bizarre.OK, the vast majority are much better off than they were during the pandemic. So, of course, Biden should be re-elected by a large majority.
Or, perhaps, it is not reasonable of compare with times during the pandemic and make believe that this is the same question as we ask every 4 years. The situation is very different.
==================================
IMO, it is reasonable to compare today to when Trump was president before the pandemic.
IMO, it is also reasonable to consider our situation to 4 years ago, although we should consider the situation then. We have recovered much better than almost any country in the world, largely because of many laws passed with ALL Republicans voting against, although several laws were passed with some Republican support.
