  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That does it. I'm not voting for him.

So what?
It means nothing legally

Does this mean that you believe anyone looking to purchase a gun should have the contents of their phone scanned by law enforcement?

Why do you claim that? Federal prosecutors have already indicted him on two counts of signing a form that said he was not using illegal drugs, and indicted him on a count that he possessed a gun at the time he was using a narcotic. The photos can't help.

Prosecutors will be looking at evidence he used illegal drugs at the time he signed the form.
No they won't. That's patently aburd. As though that could possibly be proven.

I can't believe people fall for lines like this.

That's the point. They really mean nothing to the prosecution. But maybe you guys should look a little closer at that phone. Maybe there are pictures of him naked that you can show to Congress and the rest of us like last time.

That is just stupid, and is not provable. They would need a blood sample at the exact time he signed the form

If you're going to use a photograph of a white, powdery substance in order to prove that someone was using illegal drugs, you must first demonstrate that the person ingested said white, powdery substance. Since photos generally don't show motion, this would be rather difficult. Second, you must demonstrate that the white, powdery substance is an illegal narcotic and not, say, powdered sugar, baking soda, or baby powder. As no one has developed a way to chemically analyze objects appearing in photographs, this would also be rather difficult.

In short, this is not the slam dunk evidence that you seem to think it is.

I took issue with the statement: "It means nothing legally." Now suddenly that means I'm claiming it was "slam dunk evidence." As was mentioned Hunter admitted he had a drug problem. But Hunter's attorney could claim those are not drugs in the photos. A judge or jury is to weigh the totality of evidence.

So what?
It's nobody's business but his.
Pictures of something does not equal guilt

So what.
Pictures of items alone mean nothing
Your desperation to convict Hunter severely clouds your judgement.

If you don't think it's significant, then I'm puzzled by the effort you went through to make a thread about it. What did you hope to discuss here?
