McManaman is currently detained at the Clayton County Jail in Georgia awaiting extradition to St. Lucie County. In a redacted probable cause statement, she told authorities during a recorded call that her brother has made these allegations multiple times.
TSA said it is aware of McManaman's arrest "for a non-work related charge" and he is on leave pending further law enforcement action.

According to her Linkedin page she has worked for the TSA for 21 years and 3 months, that would mean that President George W. Bush vetted her and hired her because of her strong Republican values.

I just spent a stupid amount of time trying to figure out who this person was and what their position in the government was. "Biden adminstration official" is, frankly, a stretch.

The NBC News article gives her title as "assistant federal security director", so what is that?

1. A "Federal Security Director" is the title of the local head of TSA at one of about 30 of the largest/most important US airports.
(Smaller airports are covered by a similarly titled "Regional Security Director" for their region with local "Transportation Security Manager".)

2. There are several "Assistant Federal Security Director" positions at each of those large airports (Operations, Screening, Security, etc.)

Here is a TSA PR piece about working in those positions:

Day in the life: assistant federal security directors | Transportation Security Administration

The arrested person held one of those positions (and I can't tell which one) at the Atlanta-Hartsfield International Airport.

This is a civil service position as is that of her boss.

To be fair, there was very sloppy reporting here. It made it sound like there was only one AFSD at the TSA.

But yeah, this woman was in a civil service one, one that appears to not even be at the SES level, which means that Biden has most likely never even heard of her.

I did omit mention of the deficiency of the NBC article. It would have really helped if they had identified her as being in Atlanta.

Frankly the TSA Administrator had probably never heard of her until today.

I think people hear the title of "Director" and assume "High ranking"

However, the bigger an organization gets, the less "exclusive" of a title that becomes.

The company I work for doesn't have nearly the headcount of the TSA, and we have like 20-30 people who hold the title of "director"

In most large organizations (public and private), the title "Director" is the new "Sr. Manager"...it's sort of like a "life time achievement award" for someone who's been in middle management for 15 years lol
