From what I read most pizza places are using door dash. Already. So, there's no profit in these two pizza hut operations. Where I live the Pizza Hut place , doesn't deliver to my place.

I haven't used door dash, Uber eats, etc. I imagine there's an additional delivery charge along with a tip.

Pizza Hut is still one of my fast food favorites, as long it's the thick crust. They are not as popular as they were in the 70-80's

I usually just pick up our food from our local pizza place, no delivery.

I think the writing has been on the wall for a while for Pizza Hut. I'm in Ohio and not California, but even around here, 3 of 5 closest locations have closed in the last 3 years and you don't really see a lot of them when you're out & about in other areas. A few weeks back, I did a day trip into northern/central PA...I don't recall seeing any Pizza huts in that ~120 mile stretch of PA I went through.

I think there's just too much competition now with local/independent pizza shops that often have a better product.

Rewind about 15-20 years or so, having a flourishing "independent pizza shop" market was kind of limited to certain big cities like NYC and Chicago.

But independent pizza places have become somewhat like craft breweries over the past decade, where now even every small-medium sized city has at least 1 or 2. (or 1 or 2 within easy driving distance)

I like getting single slices and good scotch so I end up at the craft pizza places. If you are ever in Seattle, visit Rocco’s.

Scotch and pizza at the same meal! Well, I suppose I would have both, but I wouldn't seek it out.

What scotches do you like?

Can't say that I've ever seen a scotch/pizza place...that's pretty interesting.

There's a few in my area that are "artisan pizza/craft beer" combos...but I guess I've never considered combining pizza with "the hard stuff" lol

If you're in London KY (about 3 hour drive from my home) The Gondolier Italian restaurant makes a top notch pizza. They also have stores in TN

I think the YUM brands (Pizza Hut, KFC, Taco Bell) are all trending down. I live in SW Ohio. Our local Pizza Hut is barley hanging on. We had a 98th birthday party for my father in law (he's now 99) at the Hut. there were approximately 15 of us and the restaurant was overwhelmed, despite the fact they weren't that busy.

Looks like you're using door dash in Cali

I imagine there will either be layoffs in fast food, or far far higher prices.

We are already seeing fast food prices completely price my household out of a burger when I'm out where I live, whereas restaurant pricing has thus far largely remained the same.

The last time I went to get fast food it was after the minimum wage increase in my area (the increase was to 12 an hour) and an order that had previously been under 20 dollars was up to 32 dollars and I've never gone to any fast food restaurant since..

If I'm spending over 30 for a meal, I'll go to an actual restaurant.

Pretty sure I'm not alone here... so firing the delivery drivers seems like a good call to try and keep prices in a reasonable range. It's either that or loose customers due to the price hikes.

Fast food is okay as an occasional luxury, but it's junk for the most part - fat, salt and sugar.

I haven't yet, but now I know where I am going tomorrow :)

Fish n chips and scotch is perfect! I used to go to Little Coney in Ballard for the fish n chips and their Green river ice cream float in the summer.

How long before self-driving vehicles with robotic delivery? For that matter, how long before the completely automated fast food joint?
I thought that already existed in some areas....
