Lauren Boebert escorted out of “Beetlejuice” musical in Denver after “causing a disturbance”

Boebert campaign manager says congresswoman was just “enthusiastically” enjoying Sunday’s show

U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert was escorted out of a Sunday night performance of the “Beetlejuice” musical in downtown Denver, accused by venue officials of vaping, singing, recording and “causing a disturbance” during the performance.

The [incident] report quotes one of the ushers: “They told me they would not leave. I told them that they need to leave the theater and if they do not, they will be trespassing. The patrons said they would not leave. I told them I would (be) going to get Denver Police. They said go get them.”

The report said after the two patrons were escorted out and reached the building’s vestibule, they resisted leaving and said “stuff like ‘do you know who I am,’ ‘I am on the board’ (and) ‘I will be contacting the mayor.’ ”

Boebert, [her manager] wrote, encourages everyone to see the play and its “fantastic cast, tremendous visuals and plenty of loud laughs” — but, he added, “with a gentle reminder to leave their phones outside of the venue.”

I didn't watch the video, but per WaPo: "In the hall, Boebert is seen rebuking an usher, at one point giving him the middle finger."

[Theater comms director] Kitts told the Denver Gazette that Boebert and her guest were booted after “numerous complaints” from fellow patrons about inappropriate behavior.

The woman says Boebert took multiple long videos during the first half of the performance. When she asked Boebert to stop vaping, the congresswoman simply said “no,” the woman said. Boebert was also kissing the man she was with, and singing along loudly with her hands in the air, the woman said.

“At intermission, I asked, ‘Are there any other seats available? Can we sit somewhere else?’” the woman said. “The usher said, ‘You’re not the first complaint we had.’ ”

When the woman returned with her husband to their seats, she said Boebert called her a “sad and miserable person.”

“The guy she was with offered to buy me and my husband cocktails. I’m pregnant!” she said.

But the behavior continued, with Boebert using her phone to record several segments of the second half of the show.

Well, no we are not electing pastors here. But we use to expect a little decorum in our elected officials. I don't remember any elected official behaving in public the way Boebert did and then claim to have religious family values.

If this description is true it sounds like Mrs. Boebert thought that a Broadway production was akin to Country Jam, Grand Junction, CO, where she gave legal advice to teens at odds with police officers. Or maybe a rock concert somewhere.
