  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Just like Best Buy, NASCAR has been exposed as discriminating against white men.

Applicants are required to meet multiple requirements, one of which is being a member of one or more ethnicities, with white or Caucasian absent from the list.

How do you know when your political party is for racial discrimination? When their political slogan, diversity, equity, and inclusion literally means "no white men." The left likes to mock the right in this nation for voting against their own interests....but if you're white and voting Democrat you can give a masterclass on voting against your interests. You're voting yourselves and your children out of job opportunities. The party complaining about systemic racism is literally promoting systemic racism.

Hopefully, the NASCAR CEO ends up the same way the Best Buy CEO did.

Thoughts?

Institutional bias against whites is so common, we have all gotten used to it. I suppose at some point whites will themselves become a protected group, although it might take a while.

BTW HERE is a link that works.

Is this the only internship program NASCAR offers?

Also, where in this list of requirements for this particular program does it say you must not be "white or Caucasian"?It doesn't seem to mention race or ethnicity at all.

1693566783316.png

EDIT: So, it does look like that requirement was removed recently. It's uncertain if it still is a requirement but just isn't listed. However, my original question stands: Is this the only internship program that NASCAR offers? If not, I don't see an issue.

Besides, if a baker or web site "designer" can deny service to a protected minority group why can't a business choose whom they wish to offer internships to based on their minority status as well?

Nascar is not a political party. It has always been a good old boy racing league throughout its 64 year history. To claim the organization discriminates against white folks is laughable. They collectively do not want minorities alienating their fan base. Some things in America will never be inclusive for all citizens. Nascar is certainly one of them. This is merely another attempt to show they "tried" to broaden their fan base by encouraging minorities to race.

Even those who aren't racing fans can get upset with this anger and fear mongering about the poor white man being a victim of discrimination. Completely ridiculous. You think folks are upset about this, but the loss of income from actually diversifying the sport would be catastrophic for Nascar and International Speedway Corporation. They've done a bang up job of alienating fans during Brian's tenure anyhow. They kept him on far too long simply because of his last name being France. Their product is not racing, it is now manufactured entertainment. Without Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Gordon Nascar has returned to obscurity. Maybe minorities can be successful in Nascar in future generations, time will tell.

I'm impressed with Bubba Wallace to be honest. I went to nearly ten Talladega races in a row. I have seen the nooses on the garage doors. This guy has fortitude and finally made the playoffs this season. Bless his persistent heart.

I had to sit through a diversity, equity and inclusion class for my job. It gave a list of things you can’t say because they are micro aggressions. One of the things you’re not supposed to say is I think the most qualified person should get the job

Neither party is for racism .... the definition of racism is mostly used subjectively.

Racism certainly does exist on individual and small group levels .... but the word racism is being misused/applied to many things that have nothing to do with it.

The word racism is often invoked to pit people against one another and for votes on the political level.

Overall ... I believe the American citizens have largely moved away from racism ... it is politics that use it in an effort to satisfy/promote their political ideologies. Divide and conquer.

I have my doubts. The left teaches minorites a dangerous combination of how we're always bringing them down and that self reflection and growth is only something white (especially men) have to do. I'd be a little wary being a white person a few generations on.

It's almost cartoonishly bad.. lol.

Possibly the most terrifying thing I've heard a CEO say was United Airlines saying that they are committed to diversity amongst pilots over everything else.

I won't be flying United Airlines.

Nascar is not a political party.

I wasn't suggesting it was. The "diversity, equity, and inclusion" mantra is the racist dog whistle of the left. It's amazing that so many people who support racism in both the government and have so much support in the private sector imagine they're the ones fighting fascism...not the ones promoting it.

It has always been a good old boy racing league throughout its 64 year history.

I take it you aren't a fan.

To claim the organization discriminates against white folks is laughable.

If by laughable you mean "factual" or "provable" then you are correct.

They collectively do not want minorities alienating their fan base.

According to whom?

Some things in America will never be inclusive for all citizens.

There's no gatekeeping in NASCAR.

Nascar is certainly one of them. This is merely another attempt to show they "tried" to broaden their fan base by encouraging minorities to race.

Jobs. The discrimination was for jobs in the industry.

Even those who aren't racing fans can get upset with this anger and fear mongering about the poor white man being a victim of discrimination.

I think everyone can tell you aren't a fan. They had a program for hiring interns who aren't white men. That's not fear mongering....that's actual discrimination.

If they had a program that discriminated against blacks or women you'd be outraged, and rightly so. For some reason though, you're very comfortable with racist and sexist discrimination against white men. I bet you weren't always like that...what happened? Did your politics and media convince you it's OK to be racist to whites?

Completely ridiculous. You think folks are upset about this, but the loss of income from actually diversifying the sport would be catastrophic for Nascar and International Speedway Corporation.

I understand that you aren't a fan...I'm not either. I am however, aware they've had some very prominent female and minority names the last couple of decades.

You already seem to be more of a fan than me. I'd be surprised if I wasn't so used to virtue signaling on the left these days.

I'm impressed with Bubba Wallace to be honest. I went to nearly ten Talladega races in a row.

Clearly you're a fan. I've never been to one race.

I have seen the nooses on the garage doors.

I believe it's called a pull down. They were on all the garage doors...long before Wallace used them to gain media attention for his brand. Clearly, they had nothing to do with him or racism...but the left's perpetual need for white racism far outstrips the actual supply of white racism. Thankfully, I don't think most black people are as racist towards white people as their white liberal counterparts are. It's difficult for black people who aren't racist to speak out against racism against whites....they get called names that are more hurtful than the n-word and their "blackness" as an identity gets called into question (Kanye West, Ice Cube, and Biden's famous "you ain't black" speech)....

Fortunately, more are speaking up as this administration has done nothing for them, except teach their children to believe they are less than whites and dropping standardized tests instead of educating them. They shipped in millions of illegals to poor black inner city neighborhoods and given them food, shelter, and job opportunities. The only thing liberals have given blacks are an increased chance to be a victim of crime and a free pass to be racist against white people.

And that free pass to be racist? Not all it's cracked up to be....

White liberals should have mentioned that new definition won't hold up in court. It's just something that liberals made up. That's pretty wild when you realize that they got a new definition for women to hold up in court.

This guy has fortitude and finally made the playoffs this season. Bless his persistent heart.

Where did the CEO say that? I don't see a comment to that effect in either the KIRO7 article, the Chicago Tribune article it cites, or the official statement from United.

Diversity, equity and inclusion and airline pilots are a bad combination. Saw where the family of a black pilot who crashed is suing Amazon because he wasn’t properly vetted.

The DEI initiative we're discussing was in enrolling students in flight school. I've not seen anybody say anything about lowering the hiring standards for certain flight school graduates.

on that we agree
I also agree with what you said about not wanting propaganda from the right or the left. It would be best if they could just stick to the facts and leave their bias out of education
