  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Cool. I got one yesterday.

At the cheap haircut shop I go to I have a 50/50 chance of coming out of the shop either looking like I belong on the short bus or someone with gorgeous hair.

That's the danger when you go these kind of places, but it's also part of the thrill too, lol.

I'm just going to hang out in the corner and soak up the manly vibes.
Haha, nice.
Are women allowed to contribute ideas or should we just be observing?
No please, we value your opinions, feel free to contribute. Generally speaking, women know more about men's grooming than men do :ahah:

I used to not really style my hair at all. Just had it cut short and would put any gel in it and would spike the front just a little. And then I thought I would get a little brave and try some different hair styles and varying lengths. I landed on a classic comb over/ pomp with a hard part, and then fade the sides real clean. It's an old school kind of thing, but I really like it.

A comb over pompadour fade?

Yep. Couple days ago, I was working with an older patient, and after a few he minutes, he just started smiling ear to ear, and he told me: "I just realized, your haircut looks like Suits!".. It's pretty close to Harvey's hairstyle from the earlier seasons, except mine has the fade on the sides.

I've never watched the show. Is that the one on Netflix? Some of us are distracted by The Witcher.

I looked it up and its nice. It makes him look distinguished.

I think it is on Netflix.

I didn't have his look in mind when I started doing it, but I definitely don't hate the comparison and take it as a compliment when people notice the similarity.
I should go get a haircut this week. The fade has disappeared from the sides, which means it's only gonna be a week or two before it starts looking messy.

I got a new French Press for my coffee, and it's just awesome. It's heavy duty stainless steel, 50 Oz capacity, with a super durable plunger. It stays hit for forever and has different fill lines inside in case you don't want to make the whole 50 Oz.

Coarse ground coffee with an extra scoop for good measure, add cinnamon, vanilla, and a pinch of salt, water just below boiling, and let it sit 30 seconds to a minute longer than the guidelines say. Smells heavenly and comes out smooth and strong without being bitter or sour. Epic way to relax while I read and sit in my comfy chair.

It makes lovely cup of coffee. Far better than drip. I used to spend time on Coffee Geeks many years ago and learned a lot. When I use a press I prepare it like cold brew and leave it in the refrigerator for a day or two. But my daughter does it now and she prefers to pull shots instead. I'd like to get a roaster and try my hand at that.

That's a good blend. I prefer mine cold and add homemade brown sugar and vanilla or create a dirty chai. When the weather cools I use additional flavors. I only have a cup a day. It's a small indulgence but satisfying.

Does the hair on the lower half of your face count? I've cut my own head hair for roughly the past 10 years and before anyone pictures Jim Carey in Dumb & Dumber, I cut the hair off.

If beard tips are in: If you're wearing a full beard then the moustache makes the beard. The fuller your moustache the fuller the rest of your beard looks by default so try not to take too much off when trimming the hairs that go into your food depository socket.

This one is a weird one for if you shave your head but have a full beard: The longer the beard, the higher the sideburns. The sideburns on either side work with the hair around your chin area and under it. I don't know how or why it does, but it just does. However if you're blessed with hair that's not migrating south then just let them grow into or blend with your head hair.

Here's a tip for if you're rocking pure, unadulterated, silky, rough and tough mutton chops: Shave them off.

Also now that I think about it maybe Aussies should be disqualified from this thread on account of our culture:

These mullets aren't isolated incidents either. We've got a whole pandemic of Mullet & Mo's down here which predate the actual pandemic. The worst part is most people, including the bloke writing this, love it. At the same time we know how bad it is but it's so filthy it's awesome.

From what I've gathered, Aussies don't like or understand American rednecks. Yet, they copied their haircuts. Boggles my mind.

We absolutely understand rednecks haha, ever heard of Mad Max? :p. I think Aussies share the most similarities with Texans than any other part of American culture, even though it may be in reality only a few similarities. It's hard not to when we share similarities with our terrain, climate & agriculture. We're a nation that has unfortunately inherited and personified Tall Poppy Syndrome, so that might seem why it feels like Aussies don't like Americans or rednecks. A lot of Americans can't get past it because they see the words we speak as delivering the insult whereas the insult is more of a contextual & tonal thing here. There does exist real prejudice against Americans (I used to suffer from it until Jesus transformed me) but the truth is that once you become part of the group it doesn't matter who you are or where you come from, you're treated like a brother; even if you're a chick.
