  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Subscription driving.

A sign of things to come, not actually fully self driving, but like heated seats, and other luxuries subscription required.

I wonder how long it will be before all new cars are self driving only, but only with a subscription.

I wouldn't buy a self driving car until it became illegal or prohibitively expensive to drive myself.
I'd still be driving a stick shift if they were easy to find; it's enjoyable.

Might be good in senior years though, I remember my grandmother had an accident as she was getting
senile and had her license revoked or surrendered as a result, so I could definitely see the use of that.
Or good in younger years for the party crowd (the self driving car is basically always your designated driver)
Or for a very long road trip; I don't like to drive more than 5 hours or so and 7 is pretty much my limit for a day.

The only feature I'd want in a self driving car, is if it would drive itself to the other end of a hiking trail.

That would be useful; if I could remote activate it for pickup, have it drive completely driverless.

Switch it into Remote only mode from the key you hold.
Suddenly everyone is basically an Uber employee if they want to be.

lol. At least until the Great Car Hackopolypse of 2030 (also referred to in future history books as the Night of the Lemmings)
It was pretty ingenious, it took Ransomware to a whole new level...

In my opinion, this is dangerous, and I hardly risked getting behind such a car. I'm a fan of more conventional cars, so the most important thing for me is that the car is comfortable to drive. I also often read blog article about cars and various transportation services
