  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"Four members of the Proud Boys, including their former leader Enrique Tarrio, were convicted on Thursday of seditious conspiracy for plotting to keep President Donald J. Trump in power after his election defeat by leading a violent mob in attacking the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. The jurors in the case failed to reach a decision on the sedition charge for one of the defendants, Dominic Pezzola, although he was convicted of other serious felonies." NYTimes

"Stand back and stand by", and now please stand aside and watch your toes was we close this cell door.

The funny thing is Trump is in Ireland playing golf, and these bozos doing Trump' bidding will now be wearing used orange jumpsuits.
Huh? Care to back this up? Since 2014 the left have been saying this and here we are 2023 nothing. Yet some on the right and left have been taken to court and jailed and fines. Is it not like Biden or his son and what the right say about them being locked up put in orange jumpsuits?..

Back up what in particular? That the orange jumpsuits will be used? I said Trump was in Ireland playing golf. That is true. I said being found guilty these guys are going to jail for doing Trump's bidding. That is true. Or as the leader of the Proud Boys said after Trump asked them to "stand back and stand by" the leader said, “Standing by, sir.”

A good start. Traitors.

Yea, maybe they can join the "J6 Prison Choir"....

Most nights at 9 p.m., defendants in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol flicker the lights in their D.C. jail cells to signal to supporters outside that it’s time to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” together. The recital has become a sacred ritual for a subset of Donald Trump’s movement devoted to heroizing the accused rioters.

The former president is now embracing their cause, lending his voice to a recording of the “J6 Prison Choir” and playing it to start the first rally of his 2024 presidential campaign. The song, “Justice for All,” features Trump reciting the Pledge of Allegiance mixed with a rendition of the national anthem.

“Our people love those people,” Trump went on to say at the rally, speaking of those who were jailed. “What’s happening in that prison, it’s a hellhole. ... These are people that shouldn’t have been there.”

If Trump wins the next election he can give them a pardon :)

This is just another sign that America is over and we need a national divorce.

Obviously you're being facetious here...but there are some on both sides who've suggested such ideas, I've yet to hear of a cogent argument as to what the logistics would look like.

It's not like the civil war where there was a nice neat geographical line dividing the two sides....today we'd have a bunch of high population density blue dots on an otherwise sparsely populated red map.

A better use of time would be trying to figure out why so many people have come to the conclusion that "I can't share a country with someone who disagrees with me on anything"...and that unique level of incivility didn't start with Trump...I view him as a symptom and not a cause.

After what has gone on here you ask this? Are you kidding me? Some are having to share in a jail and rot. Message loud and clear. Some can and some don't dare.

You're going to have to be a little more specific...

I don't know that I follow what you're getting at.

If you're suggesting that what the Jan 6th rioters got as punishment is disproportionate to what they did...I'd be willing to grant that. The Chaz/Chop leftists didn't get much in the way of punishment for what they did.

At the same time, people storming the US capitol trying to get the election overturned is a unique event that we can't really compare to anything as far as "counter-examples" because I'm not aware of any die-hard Gore supporters trying to bum-rush the capitol because Bush won.

It isn't just chaz, it's blm, antifa, etc. ON and on. Blm even stole money, cops killed and ambushed. You gotta be kidding me. So don't worry, there is more coming for these guys, be happy. Well, unless they get even just one to help them get Trump.
