PIERRE, South Dakota (LifeSiteNews) — A Democrat lawmaker in South Dakota is under fire for declaring it “dangerous” and “un-American” to believe that children should have both a mother and a father.

On Monday, State Rep. Erin Healy tweeted, “Extremist group Family Heritage Alliance said this morning that the safest place for kids are in families that have a married mom and dad. What a dangerous and un-American belief,” apparently in reaction to comments against an unsuccessful bill to remove sex-specific language from South Dakota’s legal definition of marriage.

Agreed. But you want one of these folks in a university or in a legislative body just so everyone else can see how crazy their thinking actually is.

I was SHOCKED when I hears that such folks can get elected in South Dakota. But then again my current state senator defeated a good incumbent and is spouting the same sort of silliness. It is painful to know he 'represents' me because he is about as 180 as can be from actually representing me.

I'm old enough to remember the Dan Quayle controversy.
He has been proven right ,of course, but we live in a time where good is evil and evil good.
