I just watched In The Good Old Summertime, 1949, Musical Comedy (a musical remake of Shop Around the Corner).
The last time I tried to watch it I didn't see the entire movie.
Judy Garland, Van Johnson, S. Z. Sakall("Cuddles"), Spring Byington, and others(even Buster Keaton).

I remember "Cuddles" from Christmas in Connecticut.

Here are a few , but it would take me all day to list all of the movies i like from that age of film making. I also have many, probably as many if not more from the 1930's

Arsenic and Old Lace, Third Man, The Man who came to Dinner, High Noon, Dial M for Murder, 12 Angry men, Shane, Witness for The Prosecution, The Searchers, The Quite Man

I watched a lot of "old" movies when I was a teen! you all mentioned some good ones, the Thin Man movies were good, loved the humour, also movies with Bing Crosby and Bob Hope, and the stars of the day like Rock Hudson, Clark Gable, Rita Hayworth, James Stewart, Lauren Becall etc.

Another great one 1951 version of the Thing from Another World - great acting, script and characters.
This scene so reminiscent of the later "Aliens" (1986)


Even better watching the youtube with the CF snowflakes going in the background ;) makes you feel like you are there in the arctic with them

Petros2015, I don't usually watch Sci-Fi but I've seen The Day the Earth Stood Still twice and liked it. I watched The Fly because I knew my brother had seen it. It was weird. I watched Soylent Green in the late 70's or early 80's.

Great stars and Humphrey Bogart who was in so many movies that I've only seen a small fraction of them, but proably wouldn't like sinister ones. Cary Grant and Irene Dunne were good. Yes, I liked The Thin Man series.

WARNING! Tearjerker. Waterloo Bridge (1940). I never saw it until this afternoon. If I ever see it again, I know I'll cry again! :cry: Some of the best movies I've seen are the ones that make me cry.
