I don't know if this is true, but Paul might have been talking about them when he said this," For men will be... lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. Turn away from such as these!" 2 Timothy 3

They have a form of godliness, but they deny it's power to change and say they are stuck in sin.

The Holy Spirit brings us into repentance, the changing of the mind. To ignore His work in us is to quench Him. Eventually a quencher will fall away into apostasy because they have denied the Helper His power to work in ones life conforming them into the image of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

Not whats written. One has to insert "Christian/believers" to fit what you said. For some its hard to understand the natural vs the supernatural. We look in the mirror and that's all there is. Not true. See were told to put on the new man put off the old man. The new man which after God is CREATED in righteousness and true holiness. This natural man flesh loves to sin. Its of this world and it will go back to this world we do not. We are the new man new spirit. Like Paul said the things I should do I don't and the things I should not do I do. Ever feel like this? We all do. Its the battle every believers goes through. Why Paul said its no longer I that sin but sin that is in me. If we truly understand that then we understand why he said does that mean we can sin all we want? God for bid!

Were no longer bond to sin. We are in right standing with God aka righteousness not by what we do think or say but what Christ already did. Think who in the world can you and me right now be seated in heavenly places? That right there is meat for some have no clue what that means. If I have ANY sin in me I can never be seated in heavenly places yet its where I am. I can boldly come before Him..He sees me right now as a finished work. NOT what I did but simply because I believe in Jesus Christ. He sees me through Christ. I can do great works never sin but that will not get me in. I get in just by knowing Jesus Christ not by any good work not by never sinning.

Some have a hard time with this since here on earth nothing is free and you have to work for it. You have to prove your good. Your works and actions prove your saved. A truth yet not. Those are fruits but does not make you saved. Believe in Jesus Christ. All the thief did was say remember me. So no that verse before after are does not talk about the believer. I could have just said...what does the Father see? The heart in all we talk about what can we only see? Flesh. He said He sees the heart. He judges our heart.

Christians have been around for approx. 2000 years now so is it that surprising that the number of departed Christians exceeds the number of living or semi-living Christians around today?
