I would describe it by speaking of God as Father, especially focusing on how fathers have authority over their children.

That's a great question, I don't think it truly does though obviously the relationship does. Though of course, any analogy we use will be insufficient if pressed too hard. What I like about the authority of a father vs a king or other governmental authority is it stresses the love relationship.

A sovereign is like an old coin people used to buy things with.

Tea is something you drink.

So it's a tea you buy with old currency.

the tee part, is about how the king acts and does his job.

Sovereignty in terms of God being king is related to God's personality.

There are a number of examples of God's personality in the bible, but God can be a bit unpredictable - Just like people are.

The sovereignty of God is a concept humans use to avoid helping people when the situation is too big to acknowledge it is happening.

Do you believe God cannot choose to let people choose to accept His grace and be saved?

Seriously, can God offer a person a gift that they are free to accept or reject? Can He do that?

The Armenian/Calvinist dilemma -

Let me ask a different way. If God's sovereignty means that His will is always done -

Luke 5:17 17 Now it happened on a certain day, as He was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal them.

Here we have Jesus with a house full of people who were in need of healing. Jesus, anointed with the Holy Spirit in the house and scripture clearly states the will of God in that the "Power of the Lord was present to heal them". Yet none of them were healed.

If God's sovereignty means His will always done - why were none of them healed?

When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed (Acts 13:48)
