A Purple Heart Republican congressman from Florida took to Twitter Thursday to express his anger at how an American flag was treated by Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee who stuck the flag in a garbage can while moving to a new office.

Brian Mast, who lost both legs after stepping on an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan, showed an image of the flag in a plastic garbage can and shared his thoughts.

My bet is that he appreciates his country, was willing to give his life so that people could be free to make foolish comments and spit in the eye of heroes who gave up their legs out of love for country and their fellow man.

The Rep was stupid to offer this opportunity for outrage of the day material.

The over veneration of the flag is silly. Is there some kind of kashering that is supposed to be undertaken to make a container once used for another purpose acceptable to place flags in?

This seems like manufactured outrage.

I don't think she hates the American flag being that she gives the option to buy one from her official congressional website

Furthermore, it's just a decoration, why is there more emphasis on the physical cloth itself, instead of the things it's supposed to stand for?

So until the people mad about her method of decoration transfer get equally mad about these things, I'll assume it's just partisan drivel.

I saw that. However, there was a sign that said it was to be moved - and they are moving offices in preparation for the next term - and it is set out for those who do the moving to do it.

The GOP rep jumped the gun.

How about a picture of Jesus?

There is no justification for such a lack of respect.

If she hadn't placed her note on that garbage receptacle; one of her janitors would have probably dumped it into the dumpster.

Then you want to claim that it's faux outrage when a man, who had his legs blown off fighting for that flag. is upset by this despicable act?

Those are some really nice ornamental flags that are not cheap. It doesn't look like they're throw aways.
