• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Blasphemous meme, is it unforgivable?

5 years ago before I was a believer I made a blasphemous meme mocking the Holy Trinity, including the blessed Holy Spirit, and posted it on reddit where many people shared it. Did I commit the unforgivable sin, and therefore was never actually saved when I believed on Jesus Christ and maybe my faith is only superficial and intellectual? Has God taken my name out of the book of life?

Paul says in 1 Timothy 1:13 that he was formerly a blasphemer, but received mercy due to doing it ignorantly in unbelief. I also did it ignorantly in unbelief, I had no idea about the unforgivable sin or any such things, when I created that meme. I also did not see it as an attack on God either, I didn't especially hate Jesus or the Holy Spirit. It was just something I thought was funny at the time.

No you did not. Those who ask if they may have done it definitely haven't. The reason it is unforgivable, is not because God cannot have mercy, but because it never occurs to one who commits such a sin they might be wrong and therefore seek forgiveness. They are beyond ever being corrected. To such a one good is evil and evil is good.

1 John 1:9 NIV
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

We're forgiven all our sins if we confess and repent of them.

Mark 3:29-31 NIV
29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin .” [30] He said this because they were saying, “He has an impure spirit.”

It was the Teachers of the Law he was referring to as being guilty of an eternal sin because they didn't believe that Christ is the Son of God, hence they were saying that he had an impure spirit.

Jesus paid for ALL your sins when he died and rose again.
If you are worried tell him you are sorry and then praise and thank him for his forgiveness of ALL your sins.
