As for report to police, in my case, police probably do not have legitimate ground for intervention since no actual harm occurred. As for swearing, fighting, or usage of weapon, I did have something like a voice recorder , but I probably could not recorder at right timing as evidence either. It's all about timing, It is just hard to predict when they will say it. I think they also have ways to get around with it even with voice record since they just say that they don't imply me.

Other reasons might be bury cases as incorrigible habit sometimes. I ever report a crime that some trojan horse into my yahoo account and post advertisement of thousand shoes for sale a decade ago. Scammers did not mail out shoes and had my account locked up. I reported it to police as a victim rather than scam sale as proof of self-protection or self-defense in case of being sued by buyers, I want some kind of proof as evidence that I was a victim as well rather than accomplice. Police had me write down course of event, started to key in computer in electronic format and printed out a piece of paper to me and told me to look up a few days later. But nothing show up after. At least, I had some sort of document of crime report crime as back-up evidence, better than nothing though. I understand that the higher crime statistics of certain police stations, more supervision or instructional lessons will be imposed at certain stations. A couple of decades ago, my close relatives got hit in his house by a couple of gangsters with iron chain and iron stick all over the body, lying ground bleeding lifelessly. The police station was just 10 minutes of walking distance away from combat zone. They arrived with motorcycle thirty minutes later after police hotline was used. Police are sometimes slightly inclined to involvement of less dangerous situation, then choose something slightly safer sometimes. Away from dangerous is just part of human instinct and human nature sometimes

Based on all above, that's why I hardly ask police for help.
The only thing I think police work well were possibly someone drunk lying nearby side-road or faint in the park. Waking them up or calling emergency vehicles, police at some situation cases could be efficient and speedy.
