Brother, Hebrews 3 and 4 tells us that for 40 years by "oath" God punished those who died in the desert by preventing them from entering His "rest" when He forced them with Manna to keep the seventh day of the week near the Promised Land.

God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it. For this good news—that God has prepared this rest—has been announced to us just as it was to them. But it did them no good because they didn’t share the faith of those who listened to God. (Hebrews 4:1-2 NLT)​

This is the good news of how to enter and how not to enter God's "rest", which did Joshua no good, because when they reached the Promised Land, they assumed incorrectly that an evening to evening Sabbath in the Promised Land was the seventh day of the week when God had taught them for 40 years that the seventh day of the week does not enter His "rest" near the Promised Land, which they enter earlier from evening to evening than the seventh day of the week from morning to morning.

Below, "another day" refers to a different day than thought for the Sabbath: not the seventh day of the week everywhere, but the seventh day of the creation week.

Now if Joshua had succeeded in giving them this rest, God would not have spoken about another day of rest still to come. (Hebrews 4:8 NLT)​

Brother, here is the report of the women when they "saw the tomb where his body was placed". They prepared the spices before the Sabbath began but did not have time to use them before the Sabbath.

As his body was taken away, the women from Galilee followed and saw the tomb where his body was placed. Then they went home and prepared spices and ointments to anoint his body. But by the time they were finished the Sabbath had begun, so they rested as required by the law. (Luke 23:55-56 NLT)​

Below, they carried the spices prepared before the Sabbath to the tomb at "sunrise". The women did not know that Jesus had already risen! This narrative does not allow them to discover that Jesus rose before bringing the spices, as you interpret Matthew's account of these women discovering that Jesus is no longer in the tomb before bringing the spices.

Saturday evening, when the Sabbath ended, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome went out and purchased burial spices so they could anoint Jesus’ body. Very early on Sunday morning, just at sunrise, they went to the tomb. On the way they were asking each other, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?” But as they arrived, they looked up and saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled aside. (Mark 16:1-4 NLT)​

Before sunset would allow Joseph of Arimathea to petition Pilate for Christ body and to place Him in the tomb ….and then allow time for Nicodemus to do the grave wrappings.


Thursday after sunset would begin Nisan 15, which was the beginning of the Feast of Unleavened Bread which was a High day.... Special sabbath. No work could be done on this day.

Friday Nisan 16 the women acquired the spices and ointments and prepared them. The plan was to embalm the body on Sunday, since Saturday was the weekly sabbath.

Saturday Nisan 17 was the weekly sabbath…. No work could be done.

Sometime Saturday (before sunset) Jesus Christ was raised from the dead. And at some point, went witnessing to the imprisoned spirits.

It was at the close of the 17th that the two Mary’s came to gaze upon the tomb. The were not there to anoint Jesus, they just went there to gaze upon. (Mat 28:1) ….Then ….after they left ….was the great earthquake …and Jesus Was raised.

Chronologically, the next event that takes place is Jhn 20:1 When Mary Magdalene with the aid of a ¾ moon comes to the tomb early on the first day of the week (Sunday Nisan 18) while it was still dark.

Literally preparation started at the first of the month, but could be anytime up until the day of.

So many teams of translators, all experts in Greek, read the manuscripts and arrived at the same conclusion … “the first day of the week” is what the manuscripts say. They lived and worked scattered across 4 centuries, but all agreed that the meaning of the text is “the first day of the week”. SUNDAY is the first day of the week and the SABBATH is the seventh day of the week (reread Genesis 1 if you do not understand why).

Can anyone understand why I would be so utterly reluctant to accept that Greek experts have been mistranslating the Bible into English for 400 years and now, praise God, YOU have come along to correct all of them and present the REAL TRUTH to me.

If you believe that the text should be translated “the seventh day of the week”, then I suggest you publish a paper in an academic journal for peer review. I will wait to see how your peers respond before I consider “correcting” the WORD OF GOD in my Bible.

For now, I place your suggestion in the file beside the photo of Bigfoot.

So many teams of translators, all experts in Greek, read the manuscripts and arrived at the same conclusion … “the first day of the week” is what the manuscripts say. They lived and worked scattered across 4 centuries, but all agreed that the meaning of the text is “the first day of the week”. SUNDAY is the first day of the week and the SABBATH is the seventh day of the week (reread Genesis 1 if you do not understand why).

They assume that the word Sabbath in the following passage represents a "week" and not a Sabbath, because Jews do not fast on the Sabbath. Therefore, according to Jewish practices, Sabbath in the following verse must mean a "week" instead of what God wrote. Here, in this passage, it is where the translators pick up the practice of substituting a week when God's word says a Sabbath.

I fast twice a week (Sabbath), and I give you a tenth of my income.’ (Luke 18:12 NLT)​

The first phrase with the word Sabbaths seams to suggest the end of the Sabbath in the evening, but the second phrase with the word Sabbaths suggests an earlier time in the middle of a Sabbath. The translators want to reconcile these two different times rather than translate what God actually wrote that I understand, but they didn't.

The word in Greek means Friday. Also a Wednesday crucifixion is impossible because the witnesses on the road to Emmaus said THAT day (Sunday) was the 3rd day since those events occurred...so thoseevents occurred on Friday.

The word in Greek means Friday. Also a Wednesday crucifixion is impossible because the witnesses on the road to Emmaus said THAT day (Sunday) was the 3rd day since those events occurred...so thoseevents occurred on Friday.

You addressed MATTHEW 28 and ignored all of the parallel passages that describe the exact same day. It is poor scholarship to build a doctrine and then hunt for scripture to support it while ignoring anything that does not. By RE-TRANSLATING the Word, you are moving from SDA methods to Jehovah's Witness methodology (which is not a good thing, IMO).

There are TWO Sabbaths (setting aside the Holy Days in the LAW of Moses) ... there is the seventh day of the week (Saturday) blessed by God as a shadow of the spiritual SABBATH OF GOD (Hebrews 4:9) which is the reality foreshadowed by "Saturday". None of which has ANYTHING to do with Jesus exiting the Tomb and appearing to people on Sunday after sunrise. You are denying the recorded testimony of the eye-witnesses to advance a pet theory based on a preference for when you want Jesus to have risen. You are building with straw.

Brother, I looked at all of them but it is this one that gives the most information to clarify the issue found in others.

Brother, when Jesus rose that prior night that they are walking in the light of Sunday, the Jews consider that prior night also Sunday and that is when I am saying Jesus rose! We both agree on the night Jesus rose, but they think it's Sunday and I know it is Saturday. If we count back from that night for "three days and three nights", we arrive at Thursday on what God tells us is a day of the week in Genesis: from morning to morning. Jesus died on a Thursday and stayed in the tomb for 2 Sabbaths: first a monthly Sabbath called a High Sabbath and then a weekly Sabbath. After resting for two Sabbaths, Jesus rose the night of Saturday before Sunday began in the morning.

long after the Sabbath (evening), as it dawns beyond Saturday (morning), came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary, to see the tomb. (Mathew 28:1, my own translation)​
