Public celebration of Christmas is banned in the Islamic state of Brunei since 2015. Penalty is up to 5 years in prison or a fine of 20000 US dollars or both

There is more and more persecution in the last few year than at any other time their was a tv programe about Christian persecution on US TBN they said there has been more now than any other time in History .

There's not a total ban on Christmas in Brunei. For example; Christmas Day is still a national holiday and Christians can celebrate Christmas in their homes, churches, and communities; gather with friends and family, worship together, decorate their homes, exchange gifts, etc.. The law primarily targets the public display of Christmas decorations and Muslim participation in Christmas celebrations.

Brunei also enforces laws on how Chinese New Year celebrations take place, so Christians and Christmas were not being singled out when laws were passed to end the public celebration of non-Islamic holidays. The harshest penalties for violating these laws are reserved for Muslims who may decide to participate in the celebration of non-Islamic holidays.

'Discouraged'? I could be wrong, but that sounds un-customarily light for NK. Then again, my sources could be less than accurate.

There is always talk of the "war on Christmas" and as an American, I cherish the freedom I have to observe and celebrate it a manner of my own choosing.
I would point out two missed points: in England, it was illegal in 1647, as ordered by Puritans, to celebrate or observe Christmas. This was the work of separatists.
In Colonial America, Massachusetts also banned and fined anyone for celebrating Christmas.

I have friends of many different faiths, and of none. Many of them celebrate Christmas in America in some way.
Oddly enough, I has been never had a non-Christian tell me not to celebrate Christmas, or question why or how I do. That activity seems monopolized by certain members of various Christian denominations who ignorantly think that they can choose how others celebrate. They are the only ones who foolishly tried to stop my observance of Christmas. And failed.

Good for you 'Rickardo Holmes'. I can't imagine the resistance was due to some Christian error that had arisen.
