Hi guys, my names Chris, I've been a Christian since last winter, I just need to grow my faith and learn alot more because I still have alot of doubts from time to time but I'm learning to trust in Jesus, Jesus is my foundation, it's the old testemant stuff that kind of turns my stomach, but then I look at Jesus's words and see the words of the true God and he makes me feel reassured, I'm always blown away at how perfect his teachings were and when the Pharisees were trying to trip him up how amazing his replys were, it always makes me feel no mortal would answer like that and makes me feel better in my faith.

I used to be a heroin addict and I still struggle a bit, I'm on methadone but Im working through it and Ive managed to come down to a low dose, my church has been a litteral Godsend and my life now is like im in a whole differant version of reality, sometimes I need to stop and just look around and breath because it blows me away and can make me feel emotional just how blessed my life has become now. I really love my sisters and brothers in the lord I really feel like part of a huge extended family its just absolutely amazing, man Im tearing up just writing this lol.

Im here because Ive noticed I come home and then kind of go back to secular kind of way of life so I want to be a part of a christian community in my home life which I spend alot of time online, it helps keep me occupied.

Im a gamer btw so if theres any gamers here I would like to connect with you and make some friendships. Im a guy in my 30's single unmarried no kids. I like a good banter, I try not to take life too serious, it's bad enough down here as it is lol so we should atleast have a sense of humour about it and be thankfull to God for the opportunity to grow and get to know him from scratch.

Im looking farward to making new friends here and having some of you as a part of my life and fellowshiping with you all. Im with the baptist church if you want to know.

Hi GreyGoo,

Welcome and Shalom to you.

I used to live in Scotland, just outside Stirling to be precise, though I left almost 20 years ago. I'm hoping to visit a friend who has retired near Oban in the near future.

I'm afraid I'm not a computer gamer, which is what I assume you mean by 'gamer', but I am a board-gamer (on Saturday I had my first friendship gathering to play board games since Lockdown began). A good place to go is to the Exploring Christianity section if you have questions, but bear in mind that we all come from different Christian traditions and therefore on non-core issues viewpoints might differ.

Have a great time.

Yeh it seems like a good mix, Im not too hot for the American politics, Im getting so tired of hearing it seems to be pervading every corner of the internet just now, democrats this republicans that......gimme a break lol but I try and ignore this stuff.

Grey Goo is a gamer tag ive used for a long time, it refers too a theoretical appocolypse scenario where self replicating nano bots get out of control consuming the earth atom by atom in order to replicate eventually turning the earth into a grey goo.

Cool you are into RPGs also - I have a shelf-full of different ones, though not D&D as I am not a fan (for various reasons - though I have played it numerous times). I find board gaming a very social activity. If you are interested Spring Harvest run a board games week in Northern France. It is a great time, mixing Christian worship and teaching with a roomful of board games and board gamers. I can't make it this year, but I'll definitely be going next year.

Hi Chris from the South coast of England. Ive done a lot of volunteerwork wwith the homeless down here through the church which includes deling with a lot of addicts. Great to hear you are recovering and I have known people who were homeless and who struggled with their addictions after being saved through to those who were miraculously instantly delivered from all addiction and desire to use drugs, either before, during or after being saved. I pray that you will be in the later group and God will take away any struggle with it you have. I always think back to a meeting I went to over 20 years ago where the preacher spoke about deliverance from addictions and spoke about the desire for God having to be stronger than the desire for the thing you are addicted to. Of the smokers in my church who went to it, about half of us were instantly delivered from the desire to smoke in that meeting, the other half werent. There were a lot of discussions about why and I am certain it had nothing to do with the level of faith or service or anythong like that. As they say God works in mysterious ways. but his ways are higher than ours so there must be a reason for it.

That is very profound and has gave me alot of hope and inspiration, and alot to think about, thank you for this very illuminating reply, I am truly grateful for that. I am about 95% of the way there I feel, mostly just rare cravings now particularly when Ive got money but I have aot of things in place to offset this now, alot of accountability and supervision, and just in general I am enjoying being clean I dont want to go back to using, Ive been feeling so good, in particular this last week I feel like Ive had my main prayer answered to truly feel a connection to jesus, the methadone makes me apathetic and struggle to feel anything at all, sadness, happiness, joy, spiritual satisfaction, but lately my hearts been filled with joy for Jesus and an eagerness to grow as a Christian, I really want to grow these feelings now, it's the first propper thing Ive felt in years and its made me particularly emotional, like a flood of emotions are finally coming back to me, thank God.....it's about time.

...it's the old testemant stuff that kind of turns my stomach, ...
Your english brother here ;-)
Your not alone with that thought about the old testament stuff. It's a tough read.
You can YouTube "The Bible Project". They have some cool videos that might help build up some OT knowledge - it's a start.

...
but then I look at Jesus's words and see the words of the true God and he makes me feel reassured, I'm always blown away at how perfect his teachings were and when the Pharisees were trying to trip him up how amazing his replys were, it always makes me feel no mortal would answer like that and makes me feel better in my faith....
Me too.

...
Christian communities can make me feel emotional just how blessed my life has become now. I really love my sisters and brothers in the lord I really feel like part of a huge extended family its just absolutely amazing, ....
I feel it in the faith too. I think you're right about it being the Christian Communities. You feel like part of a big family with brothers and sisters everywhere.
In effect, you are and you have.

...
Im a gamer btw so if theres any gamers here I would like to connect with you and make some friendships.
Very rarely I play Rainbox Six Siege - XBox One.
