Protestants and Catholics are Christians, or haven't you read the rules for the forum?

I would guess that's not what the rules mean. And just cause some rule on a forum might say so, doesn't mean it's true. Anymore than attending a black Church makes you African American.

Each church determines membership and standards for itself. To call those standards generally insufficient to be a Christian seems highly problematic given the rules of the forum.

And which of the thousands of interpretations and sects might that be?

All of them. If they are following Christ and the New Covenant they aren't using scripture to commit atrocities. Cause it doesn't matter what interpretation you adhere to, none of the teaching of Christ or the apostles tells us to go out and kill, and maim people in the name of Jesus.

That's true. Almost always, they reach back to the OT to justify such actions.

Which isn't hard to do, depending on the sect, theology, or hermeneutical tradition a particular Christian subscribes to.

From the article:

In late May a throng of a hundred or so young men, most of them from African or Middle Eastern minorities, started fighting in a square in Hjallbo, a suburb of Gothenburg, Sweden’s second city. Members of rival gangs seem to have started the scrap over the theft of a moped. Two days later a man in a nearby grocery shop was shot in the back of the head, thought to be as an act of revenge for the gangland battle. Then a policeman in Biskopsgarden, another suburb of the city, was shot dead. A few days after that a man was murdered in a barber’s shop in Frolunda, yet another suburb. To add to this litany of recent criminal violence, two young children were lucky to survive last week after being caught in the crossfire of yet another gang shoot-out, this time in Visattra, on the edge of Stockholm, the capital.

In the past 15 years, Sweden has had Europe’s highest rate of death by shooting, according to a recent report by the country’s National Council for Crime Prevention. Analysing data on 22 European countries provided by Eurostat and the un’s World Health Organisation, Klara Hradilova-Selin, a researcher at the council, reckoned that Sweden came second after Croatia between 2014 and 2017. But by 2018 preliminary data suggested that Sweden had risen to the top spot. Most of the victims are men between 20 and 29. Sweden’s rate of homicide by shooting is two-and-a-half times the European average.

Read the rest here: Sweden is being shot up | The Economist

Sweden is a prosperous country and desirable place for potential immigrants who seek better opportunities abroad and want to improve their lives. There are many people from less fortunate European countries such as Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine who want the chance to relocate to another nation. Yet instead of taking in mainly eastern European immigrants, the Swedish government is giving priority to migrants from poor countries in Africa and the Middle East, and the social consequences are predictable as the article describes.
Texas, where you live, has a higher homicide rate than Sweden. So why are you worried about Sweden?

Given the high percentage of bible-thumpers in the US, what is the American excuse?
That the "Bible-thumping" isn't real. It is lip service only.

Some people say they are Christians because they don't happen to be Jews or Hindus, or Buddhists.

Nor does it teach we shouldn't be soldiers or that authorities should not bare arms.

Just think how much safer it would be if the immigrants weren't raping and attacking people.

LoL, now we are using the ole "well it's not as bad as.." defense to try and minimize the impact of the uptick of violent crime? A really safe place isn't so safe anymore and it's not because of the natives.
Defense? No one is defending violent crime in Sweden. But one has to wonder why people in other countries, with higher rates of violent crime, would choose to publicize Sweden’s crime rate.
