FBI arrests Mississippi man for assaulting officers during Jan. 6 Capitol riot

Federal agents arrested a Mississippi man for assaulting officers during the January 6 Capitol riot.

Michael Leon Brock, 54, of Walls, is charged with federal offenses that include assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers and obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder, among other charges.

As seen in body-worn camera (BWC) footage, Brock charged at law enforcement officers while holding what appeared to be a four-foot-long rod as the officers attempted to control the crowd, federal investigators say.

So, just keeping track so far, how many of the people charged or arrested have been antifa, BLM, or FBI plants?

Mayyyyyybe one. Oops excising the link because of his potty mouth. Check Wikipedia for John Earle Sullivan. Pay attention to the rather complicated 'Activism' section.

Prosecutors say Andrew Taake of Texas used the dating app Bumble while in Washington on January 6. The match asked if he was near the Capitol and he said he was there "from the very beginning." He sent several selfies and claimed that he spent 30 minutes in the building.

Screenshots of their Bumble chat show that Taake told the match he was "peacefully standing there" at the Capitol. But prosecutors say he was involved in two violent attacks against police who were defending the building. Footage from the front lines shows Taake using pepper spray against the police line and later striking police with a metal whip, according to court filings.

@CahnEmily

Raskin asks Officer Hodges what he thinks of @Rep_Clyde
's description that the insurrectionists were "tourists." He responds that if that's true, "I can see why foreigners don't like American tourists." Epic response.

[Republican congressman Mo Brooks'] Jan. 6 speech at a rally ahead of the riot at the U.S. Capitol is not covered by protections for members of Congress and federal employees, the Justice Department said in a court filing Tuesday — drawing a legal line over attempts to stop the certification of the 2020 election results.

Past court opinions and Justice Department legal interpretations have given broad safeguards to protect elected officials who are sued over their public statements. But in the case of Brooks, the Justice Department decided he went too far.

The agency “cannot conclude that Brooks was acting within the scope of his office or employment as a Member of Congress at the time of the incident out of which the claims in this case arose,” the court filing said. “Inciting or conspiring to foment a violent attack on the United States Congress is not within the scope of employment of a Representative — or any federal employee.”

During a speech at the Jan. 6 rally, Brooks told the crowd to “start taking down names and kicking [butt].”

(This is just a DOJ opinion. Ultimately it will be decided in court as Eric Swalwell has sued Brooks and Trump over their actions on Jan 6.)

I wish I had a magic button that when I press it certain people just got randomly punched in the face. Like not hard enough that they need to see a doctor about it, but enough that it just ruins their whole day.

On Wednesday, the United States filed a motion to have Thomas Robertson detained pending trial for “substantial violations of the terms of his pre-trial release,” according to federal court documents.
The FBI also obtained records from gun purchases that Robertson made after being indicted. Court documents detailed 14 such purchases between April 12 and May 15.

I guess he never learned in cop-school that buying guns while under felony indictment is also a felony.

Ex-cop who stormed US Capitol is jailed after buying 37 guns and posting that ‘violence’ is better than ‘peaceful protest’

“There is probable cause to believe that Robertson committed a felony – willfully shipping or transporting firearms and ammunition despite being under felony indictment,” Cooper wrote in a ruling, concluding that there was no way to protect the public without keeping Robertson in jail.

Prosecutors say Robertson called for more violence after January 6. He allegedly posted online that “the only voice these people will now listen to is violence,” so people should “buckle armor or just stay at home.” After that, prosecutors said, Robertson started purchasing more weapons.

His lawyer said Robertson is in solitary confinement, for his own safety, because he’s a former police officer.

Where did he get the money? $16,000 is a lot to spend for a retired person.

Probably sold a few things -- It's possible that he wasn't planning to survive the glorious revolution.

"I have learned that if you peacefully protest than you will be arrested, fired, be put on a no-fly list," he allegedly posted on an online gun forum last month. "I have learned very well that if you dip your toe into the Rubicon... cross it. Cross it hard and violent and play for all the marbles."

Kind of an unfair advantage when you've already lost your own...

Pro-Trump Californian Charged for Storming the Capitol After Member of His ‘Church Prayer Text Group’ Alerted the FBI to a Selfie

“On or about January 30, 2021, the FBI received an electronic tip from Witness #1, who stated that a member of his/her church prayer text group, Glenn BROOKS, boasted of his active participation in the January 6, 2021, events at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Witness #1 also stated that BROOKS sent photos of his attendance at the Capitol to the church text group that included other people at the riots/protest and a selfie photo of himself inside the Capitol.”
