Berean Study Bible
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
There are approximately 328.2 million (2019) people residing in the US.
There are approximately 614 billionaires in the US
Suppose they all kicked in a gave every American 1 million dollars.
Now .... money certainly don't solve everything .... but .... what do you think would happen if some (or even one) of these billionaires gave away 1 million to each person?
Psalm 62:10: KJV
Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase,
set not your heart upon them.
Proverbs 22:2: KJV
The rich and poor meet together: the Lord is the maker of them all.
1 Timothy 6:17-18: NIV
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.
Therefore it is not that some are wealthy, God blesses some with wealth and perhaps that is a test to them...not to set their heart on wealth. From Psalm 62 above and Proverbs 22:2 we see that the rich are within the church and meet together peaceably and thereby are accepted by God. 1 Timothy 6 even issues commands to them.
In the following passages we see the Christian is not to seek to become rich, however...wealth can become a lure and idolatry...
I Timothy 6:8-10 NIV:
But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. Those who
want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
Money belongs to God and in Biblical context we see it is distributed for the most part based upon
work...
II Thessalonians 3:10 KJV:
For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that
if any would not work, neither should he eat.
