You never know! McConnell already promised his base he's 100% dedicated to stopping the Biden administration. So maybe ONE side will reach out for unity...because we obviously can't count on the Senate Republicans for that.
The one side that called for unity should be the one that reaches out.

Mitch McConnell has said that "One-hundred percent of our focus is on stopping this new administration."

It looks like he is unwilling to work with the new administration on anything.

Was it a good idea to give a tax break that preferentially helped the ultrawealthy and left a gap in revenues meaning we had to grow our deficit? Seems to me that that didn't actually help the country (just a few really rich people). As opposed to running a deficit in order to keep up infrastructure and invest in more Americans.
The tax cuts were supposed to be paid for by “tremendous growth”...like 8%, that never happened. The ultrarich’s tax-cuts are permanent. Poor’s expire in 2024.

The side that called for unity did reach out. Of course, with their hand extended, the other side bit that hand. You'll have to forgive the side wanting unity, for some odd reason, after having their hand bitten, not wanting to reach out again while the other side again promises to bite it more.

There have been many meetings between Republican and Democratic senators. Manchin will continue having such meetings to get input for his negotiations with the administration.

The point remains, just like the stimulus bill, which was even supported by a majority of Republicans (per the polls), no Republicans will vote for the infrastructure bill; it does not matter what is "negotiated" with Republicans. Sen. McConnell will not allow Republicans to vote for a bill that might be a "win" for Pres. Biden.

Though in interesting contrast, Democrats were trying to negotiate with Pres. Trump on an infrastructure bill, which was one of Pres. Trump's campaign promises. In that case, though, it was Pres. Trump that refused to negotiate. I suppose "unity" and "negotiation" are only important when a Democrat is President?

They did. McConnell, speaking on behalf of the GOP,said no.

And since "no" means no, that's the end of that.

When did Biden reach out to them?

Which side is that - the one which sees how quickly spending became important again after the GOP lost the election?
Whatever side you’re on. Are deficits important?

Assuming time moves in the same direction it always has, I would guess sometime before McConnell said "no."

They are -- which means if you're going to run one up, you had best have a darn good reason for doing it.

It's a nice story. Lots and lots of billionaires and corporations support the Democrats. Obama certainly had the support of lots of bankers and corporations. Biden does also.
You're right.

Biden and the establishment Democrats in Congress are capitalists too.

If you ever read the political donations of the billionaires that own our politicians, you'll notice that they fund both parties, but they tend to favor the Republican candidates. They'll favor whoever makes it easier for them to exploit you for profit.

Example: Bill Gates Donations

And both sides think they do.

I guess that means that we'll have to think for ourselves and decide which one (or both, or neither) is correct.

I've thought it over, and I've come to my conclusion. You?

It looks like he is unwilling to work with the new administration on anything.

This is the same McConnell who said back in 2010 "The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president."

Clearly the man is a one-man obstacle to unity. The GOP is going to have to show him the door if any kind of bipartisanship is going to happen.
