Wouldn't it be frightful if those who are night lovers missed the second coming?

"4 But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. 5 You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 6 So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. 7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night."

Somewhere else in the word it says to be alert and watchful for Jesus' return and so when do we sleep. Based on the above chapter, he must come in the day.
Anyone?
And remember that somewhere in the world it is dark at any given time.

Hello alllivesmatter, talking on this scripture those who are asleep have yet to be spiritually awake, and live in the natural self that is alseep, when you are asleep and you are not dreaming there is only darkness.

That is how I look at it, you can get drunk and messed up during any part of the day, and still be in darkness.

You mention that the word mentions to be alert and watchful for Jesus Return. You know thinking about that Jesus Christ can show up at any time for a person in darkness, if the person hears his voice at the door knocking and lets him in. That light will penetrate that darkness, and can have them come to repentance and search for the light. Some people fall back away after a short period of time. You may know that from experience. Sometimes it is good to ask God in prayer to help stay close to him and the Light of the Lord Jesus Christ.

This world is so touchy, and so easy to fall into. (Im not perfect but God has removed a lot of (mountains) problems from my life as they are encountered piece by piece.

Yesterday I actually got upset because I only told Alisa goodbye and not Karen, and Rhonda (They were all the time clock). Oh how bad did that make me feel. Thought about it for the rest of the night, but God forgives, (that is the only time I sin it seems to me when I fail to love others, and fail to Love God.) Thankful we have a wonderful Mediator who pleads our case with Christ Jesus so we can accept forgiveness and move forward.

A person will be shown light if they are able to see love come from someone who is teaching, or sharing the light with those who are in the cave of darkness, or pit of despair. That Light will draw them out, if they listen, and if they see. The Lord Jesus Christ healed those who could not hear, those who could not see. He lives with-in us. (Galatians 2:20-22)

Just some thoughts. Thank you for the post.

And remember that somewhere in the world it is dark at any given time.

We know when Jesus is coming back. He won't be coming back like a thief in the night. His return won't be a surprise to any Christian.

Daniel 12:11 “And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days.

That's 7 years after the Antichrist sets up shop.

This constant harping about the return of Jesus is not about the return of Jesus. It's about all the things that come shortly before his actual return. And what are those?

The harping is about the obliterations that come shortly before the return of Jesus. By shortly I mean decades or less. Most of the world's population will be obliterated.

The overwhelming, vast majority of Christians would prefer to remain asleep and get annoyed if one tries to wake them. Then they roll over and go back to sleep.

One thing is for sure when understanding 1 Thessalonians 5, one must first have some kind of inkling of The Old Testament prophets where Apostle Paul was pulling from.

That means lot of Churches preaching a pre-trib rapture theory with 1 Thess.5 are preaching falseness.

Paul was pulling from the OT prophets about the last day of this world, the "day of the Lord", which is when God comes up off His throne to punish the wicked of this present world. That is what the events of the "day of the Lord" are about, not the 3 and 1/2 year coming great tribulation that happens before that "day of the Lord".

Those who sleep in the night, and are drunken in the night are about those who will be saying that, "Peace and safety" just prior to the day of "sudden destruction". It means those are NOT in Christ, but are deceived.

Those in Christ Jesus are to WAIT for His coming on the "day of the Lord". His coming is NOT to be a surprise to us like a thief in the night.
