So how are those who want to preserve national monuments and limit drilling in the Arctic going against scripture? They think they are advocating using the Earth for our benefit by preserving a part of it. Where in scripture does it say that they are wrong?
Not using something that is beneficial and can create job and save money isn’t good stewardship.

Apparently the biblical literalists believe that the Hebrew word כָּבַשׁ of Genesis 1:28, which is translated in the KJV as "subdue," means "allow commercial interests to exploit for a profit."

I went K-12 in a denomination so conservative that it was too conservative for Michelle Bachmann and I remember we were to be good stewards of the earth because it was a gift from God. It is shocking how much conservatives have veered from that to simply stripping the earth of all of its resources for money in 20 years.

What does "help others" mean in this context? And is that the extent of your consideration of stewardship of Earth's resources?
We sponsor a child through Compassion International. We did 20 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child this year. We helped organize an outreach to get meals to families for Christmas, and donated a few hundred dollars to that effort. Some of these efforts would have been less if gas was $4 a gallon.

And, of course, there is no solution for $4 gas but pumping more oil. So much for the Arctic. But moving on, tell us how the commercial exploitation of Bear's Ears National Monument will further Christian good works.

and doesn't help if there is no future for your family due to climate change.
That's another one he will have to explain--where does the Bible tell us that a Christian must regard AGW as a hoax?

It sounds like your donation to charity is similar to mine in that if you have extra money at the end of the month it will get kicked to those in need. While the Paris Climate Agreement hits the United States harder than developing nations, it is important to remember the United States built their current position cheaply when no one cared about the environment and developing nations don’t have that opportunity. It is fair that the United States will pay more under the Paris Climate Agreement because the United States gained the most when people barely cared about the environment. Yes, it sucks for those that could gain the most from extra donations currently from the United States but in the long game, an earth that can support our society is more important.

We're currently 10 months into a classical economics experiment on supply and demand: what would happen to oil/gasoline prices if we drastically reduced the demand for oil/gasoline? It turns out that the prices crash. Who'd guessed?

If gas price fluctuations have a severe impact on your budget you are probably: 1. Driving too far to work, 2. Driving an inefficient or oversized vehicle, and/or 3. Have a low income.

I haven't read this thread carefully. Surely the relevant scriptures have pointed out to you. You know the ones. The people shall support the oil companies with tax benefits and do all they can to preserve their profits. Any support of alternative fuel is anethema and shall be punished by God wrath, especially when countries turn to sources power that are much less expensive than oil and even less expensive than any fossil fuel. And surely you know that government was set up to protect those predators that are strong enough to beat out their weaker brethren.
===========
Choose to want to support the teaching of the Sermon On The Mountain and the 2 commands, and you will find yourself attacked. Surely, Jesus was kidding when he asked us to support our poor, weak, sick imprisoned and generally disenfranchised. You will be told that you follow an alternate gospel. Surely, prosperity is our proper individual goals.

I'll mark that "funny" but it's really kind of sad. Christian populists were once pretty "left" and supported liberl issues and causes. Their champion was William Jennings Bryan. Now it's Trump.

What makes your timeframe the right one?
The veracity of the evidence. Telling me that your best evidence is a 2000+ year old document and expecting me to believe it is like saying you can turn yourself invisible, but only when no one is looking.

so, where’s your good evidence?

Republicans Are Mad Joe Biden Isn’t Uniting The Nation Around The GOP Agenda

“We can treat each other with dignity and respect. We can join forces, stop the shouting, and lower the temperature. For without unity, there is no peace, only bitterness and fury,” the president added, standing on the same platform where pro-Trump rioters had invaded the Capitol on Jan. 6.

In response, Republican lawmakers are arguing that Biden’s policies will only hurt unity. In other words, according to these lawmakers, the only way to heal the nation after a violent mob tried to overturn an election that put Democrats in power, is to do exactly what Republicans want.

Sounds about right to me.

Underneath is a veiled threat that unless their demands are met, they will incite more rebellion.

What about the responsibility to future generations, at the very least? What if they have no viable planet to live on?

Oh that's right, you likely believe the world is ending before then because your savior will return and whisk you away. Christians have been saying the same story for 2,000 years, and the results have been a disaster.

What demands? The article looked like they didn't want Biden undoing deals they already did for the most part.

The earth is ours to use for our benefit.
That’s one of the reasons many people in my country give Christians a very wide berth.

It’s two steps from a dooms day cult when that attitude is espoused.
