Hello Well I'm new here and dont even know how this works. I need some help and any reply will be gratefull.my name is joey and I'm currently in state prison for a crime I did not commit.im sure people hear this all the time and that is fine if people dont believe me I'm not trying to convince anyone because I already gave up on people like my public defender saying they would help prove my innocence and that not happening. I just need help because I feel like god abandoned me. Why would god send me to prison for so long for something I did not do? Why do I have to go through all this pain for nothing? My mom passed away while I have been in prison and I could not be there to see her before she died. I have even lost contact with my daughter and cannot get that back. Now covid is here and we cannot get visits and i have not seen my wife in almost a year now because of this virus.I just dont know what to do. I just want to give up and be done because I dont understand how go could allow an innocent man to go to prison and abandon me. I know I'm complaining but I just dont know what to do

Joey, perhaps you could tell us more about your beliefs or relationship with the Lord, where you are at, inside? Many innocent people have been put in prison on false or trumped up charges, including dedicated believers (and even Paul and Peter were, but so many have been). Being in prison isn't an end, but only like a moment in a way. But the key thing is one's relationship with the Lord. Do you pray, such as the prayer Christ gave us all to pray in Matthew chapter 6? This prayer is such a good and needed thing for any believer, no matter where they are at, and no matter how their life seems at the moment. We all need it. Do you have a way to easily read the bible when you want to? Online here is a link: Matthew 1 NIV (In Matthew, unlike the other 3 gospels (which we also want to all read), it's fine to start in the middle of chapter 1 at verse 18, or for those completely knowing the first chapters, even at chapter 3)

To answer a few of your questions yes I currently am still in prison and I pray everyday and try to focus on my relationship with god. With that being said it is really hard to devote time to go and talk about the lord because of the violence and anger people show in here.before being arrested I was set to become a deputy sheriff and never new the injustices that occurred to others. I always thought people in prison were all guilty now I have come to realize on a personal level that is just not true. I want to thank you for the encouraging words and things to think about.

Ah, there should be a prison ministry (or there is in many prisons, though I don't know if Covid has suspended that for now). But you can and should spend time reading, really taking your time, pausing to think on and reflect, all that Christ said. I learned that even after I had read the gospels through 3rd time, I was learning new things. So, I thought: now I have it all, I really got it this time. But, I wanted to read them a gain after enough years, and to my real surprise and wonder and awe, I found myself learning new things, things I had not gotten before, even with careful reading. The most key thing is to really listen to Him as you read, and take your time. There were days when I might read a chapter or 2, but there were also days when even just 1 or 2 verses of what Christ said were so.... ....so much... so...filling, that I had to stop, I was totally full. I had to stop and just be with the words. So, if it takes you a week or a couple of months to read a gospel, that's just the right amount of time, if you are really listening, dwelling in the words, remembering them, meditating on them.

Dear brother Joey,
God doesn’t abandon you. For this is what we have heard:
For the LORD hears the needy and does not despise His own people who are prisoners. -Psalms 69:33

Likewise, we have heard:
But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. -Ephesians 2:13

If you feel afar off from God, consider what God the Father takes in order to bring you near. He brought you near at the shedding of the blood of His Son. So would Heavenly Father want you to be far off ? No !

You are asking :”Why would god send me to prison for so long for something I did not do?
Why do I have to go through all this pain for nothing?”

It is of importance that we don’t allow sufferings absorb us so much. We should not let suffering weigh us down so that we don’t become paralyzed in prayer. It is essential that we take refuge in prayer if we want to gain victory over sufferings. Now is the very moment that we need to tell Jesus that we trust Him and that He can deal with our sufferings.

It is vital that we believe Jesus is greater than our sufferings.

Our Lord Jesus Christ can bind our wounds
and comfort our hearts. We need to continue to believe that He can comfort us in the dark days of our sufferings.

So, in dark days of suffering, let us have faith, and pray :
“I commit my ways to the Lord. He will lead me aright.”

Dear Joey,
consider David, the son of Jesse ! How he was chased by King Saul for not his fault.

Listen to his prayer:

My eyes are ever toward the LORD, for He will pluck my feet out of the net. -Psalms 25:15
Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. -Psalms 25:16
The troubles of my heart are enlarged; bring me out of my distresses. -Psalms 25:17
Consider my affliction and my trouble, and forgive all my sins. -Psalms 25:18
Consider how many are my foes, and with what violent hatred they hate me. -Psalms 25:19
Oh, guard my soul, and deliver me! Let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in You. -Psalms 25:20
May integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for You. -Psalms 25:21
Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles. -Psalms 25:22

Have you prayed like David ! Pray like David !
God will redeem you out of all your troubles.

Dear Joey,
Consider what God the Father has said and promised to His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ :

Thus says God, the LORD, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and what comes from it, who gives breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk in it: -Isaiah 42:5
"I am the LORD; I have called you in righteousness; I will take you by the hand and keep you; I will give you ( Christ Jesus) as a covenant for the people, a light for the nations, -Isaiah 42:6
to open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from the prison those who sit in darkness. -Isaiah 42:7
I am the LORD; that is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols. -Isaiah 42:8
Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them." -Isaiah 42:9

How great is our Heavenly Father’s love that He is willing to give us Christ Jesus as a covenant for us, His people.

What does that means ? This is what we have heard:
for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. -Matthew 26:28

Our beloved Lord Jesus Christ willingly give us His blood to seal with us a covenant of love and peace. That is how much He loves us.

His covenant, He has promised to bring out us, the prisoners from the dungeon,

Also, He has promised to deliver us who sit in darkness from the prison.

Let us continue to be thankful to our Heavenly Father who has rescued us from domain of darkness and translated us to the kingdom of His beloved Son.

This is what we have heard:
pray without ceasing, -1 Thessalonians 5:17
give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. -1 Thessalonians 5:18

When did you become a Christian Joey? I am not talking a professing Christian. I am talking about someone who has devoted their lives to Christ to follow God.

Have you heard this happened to David :
David departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam. And when his brothers and all his father's house heard it, they went down there to him. -1 Samuel 22:1
And everyone who was in distress, and everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was bitter in soul, gathered to him ( David). And he became commander over them. And there were with him about four hundred men. -1 Samuel 22:2

So, consider how David rely on God’s strength and make him strong in God.

How do David become strong in God ?
This is what we have heard:
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. -Joshua 1:8
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." -Joshua 1:9

Let us continue to trust in the Lord, our strength.

The fact that you have a desire to please him not seen and are asking for support for the "drinking the blood of Jesus" is beneficial in building up the faith of Christ who gave his Spirit life in jeopardy of his own Spirit.

Study to see how "caves" are used throughout the bible. It can help strengthen our new faith and encourage others not in the cave.

You're hard pressed, right now because the Lord is in the middle of working in your life Joey. He has plans for your life and soon you will understand, why He let you go through this. Please find strength in His word and in prayer. If you will just trust in Him, He will rescue you from that prison, before you know it.
