'Stay home,' says US mayor at Mexico beach resort

Steve Adler, leader of Austin, Texas, went on a family getaway to Mexico as he told people to keep indoors amid spiralling virus caseloads.

He recorded a video from the beach resort instructing residents back home: "This is not the time to relax."

But Mr Adler, a Democrat, denied violating his own regulations.

Apparently some democratic leaders believe in how serious covid is......for us peasant folk.

while not as bad as denying the virus or refusing to take action like some of the GOP leadership, this kind of behavior is hypocritical and hurts efforts and policies meant to protect people during the pandemic.

check your local leadership and how they behaved. if you can't stomach voting for the opposition, vote then out in the primaries. if you can't find a primary opponent, make one in yourself or a competent friend or family member.

Austin mayor shuts down city while on tropical vacation
CA Gov Newsom shuts down business while having maskless dinner with state medical officials.

I'm noticing a trend, and I wonder if I should follow what they say or what they actually do? Are masks as much a medical device as they are to show virtue?

One more drop in the Olympic size swimming pool of failure that is our response to COVID isn’t going to change much for us now. The crucial window of opportunity that required responsible leadership and citizenry is long behind us.

what they say is backed by science and the results of where mandates have been enforced that have dramatically reduced spread and deaths. what we should do is hold them accountable for breaking their own mandates.

Along with everyone else out there, US people are banned from entering Australia. Even if we did let you in you'd be required to spend 14 days in quarantine (and pay for it).

Don't take it personally - we're just trying to keep you dirty foreigners out (apart from New Zealanders who are usually pretty clean).
