You bet.

BTW there are three different kinds of tongued as Paul said, there are DIVERSITIES of tongues.

So now you’re going to “teach” me all about spiritual gifts?

Someone who has a form of Godliness but denies the POWER is going to correct me on Dunamis power?

I don’t think so.

Does tongues improve you as a Christian? What is the benefit?

Every Calvinist on earth quotes being given to Jesus by the father as proof of unconditional Election, which means salvation, so your argument fails in claiming Jesus never said Judas was saved.

He didn’t use the word saved about any apostle, He did say Judas was lost in the end, after being given to Him by the father.

One can’t be LOST if they were never FOUND.

Judas was given TO. Jesus, yet was LOST by Jesus.

You can rationalize all day long, but that can’t erase the facts.

So by your logic, it`s all Jesus fault that Judas betrayed him. Jesus lost him eh?

Hello you,

When Jesus Christ chose his disciples, who ended up being hand picked by Yeshua, the Apostles, where they the ones given an authority to perform miracles? (This is excludes the later chosen disciple - that was cast lots for joining in with the group.)

Is there a difference between an Apostle and Disciple?

Were the 12 Jewish hand picked Apostles different than everyone else because they had been chosen; predestined?

Disciple - Someone who is called by God. “During Jesus' earthly ministry, and during the days of the early church, the term that was used most frequently to designate one of Jesus' followers was "disciple" (mathetes ie student) 262 times.” “Called to a Relationship with God. The roots of biblical discipleship go deep into the fertile soil of God's calling. That calling is expressed in the pattern of divine initiative and human response that constitutes the heart of the biblical concept of covenant, manifested in the recurrent promise, "I will be your God, and you shall be my people." That call from Yahweh is reiterated in the call of Jesus, when he said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" ( Matt 11:28 ). God has called his people to represent him on the earth, to be with him in every circumstance of life, to be transformed in personal character to be like him. That calling is at the heart of biblical discipleship, both in the Old and New Testaments.”

Apostle - Someone who is sent out with a message. Pre-Christian use of the Greek term apostolos as one who is sent or a messenger is rare, more commonly it was referring to an ambassador or emissary. However the post-Christian use of the term is one sent to the churches by an authority with a message (the 12). The use of the word as a noun was found seventy-nine times in the New Testament (10 in the gospels, 28 times in Acts, 38 times in the Epistles, and three times in Revelation). Only once (Heb 3:1) is it used to refer directly to Christ.

The 12 apostles were different because they were selected by Jesus.

can you prove it, with scripture? If not it okay, God bless you friend and have a good day. I’m gonna refrain from answering any more questions until later on tonight! Bye everyone

Predestination? Of course.

"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one." - John 10:27-30

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.
" - Ephesians 1:3-14

"For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified." - Romans 8:29-30

Hello Agallagher,
Are you looking for miracles ? Miracle is not wishful thinking or vague hope ! People who ask for God’s miracle is asking God to intervene in their lives based on the reality of His promises.

God does not give only this authority to His apostles. This is what we have heard:

And Stephen, full of grace and power, was doing great wonders and signs among the people. -Acts 6:8

Do you remember the lessons that Jesus Christ have taught about the withered fig tree in Mark 11:20-25? Do you remember what conditions that Jesus have set to receive ! He never said only His chosen apostles that can receive.

If you really want to be a disciple of Jesus, remember what He said :
Then Jesus told his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. -Matthew 16:24

In regard to your question about the difference between apostle and disciples,
you have heard about being disciple from the Lord and about apostle —-
let us hear what apostle Paul think in regard to being apostle :

For I think that God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, like men sentenced to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels, and to men. -1 Corinthians 4:9
We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute. -1 Corinthians 4:10
To the present hour we hunger and thirst, we are poorly dressed and buffeted and homeless, -1 Corinthians 4:11
and we labor, working with our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure; -1 Corinthians 4:12
when slandered, we entreat. We have become, and are still, like the scum of the world, the refuse of all things. -1 Corinthians 4:13

Did Jesus say Judas was given to Him by the father and yet was lost, or not?

OSAS is bogus, so is TULIP.

Judas was never saved. He was only given to serve his dark purpose. That`s why Jesus said it would have been better for Judas if Judas had never been born.

From what I've seen it results in just the opposite with pride rather than humility.

Often true, unfortunately. Anything that gets tossed into the salvation formula apart from the cross will do that. I love the Spirit-filled church movement but I hate the abuse of the tongues gift that I have seen. I believe it`s a disgrace that hinders the whole effort.

Apostles are those who go from place to place founding and establishing churches. For some obscure reason (jealousy, I suspect) they are now called missionaries. Disciples are simply those who are taught by a particular teacher. All Christians should be disciples. Only a chosen few are apostles.

The Twelve were the founders of the church. There is conjecture as to whether or not Paul replaced Judas or the one chosen by Lot. It's obvious from the Word that there were more than 12 apostles in the early church. However, the 12 are unique. They had been with Jesus throughout His earthly ministry and so were eyewitnesses.

Every Christian is to be a disciple. However, apostleship is a gift only given to some believers. I know of no apostles besides Paul and the Twelve.
There were many other apostles. Was not Barnabus an apostle? At first it was "Barnabus and Paul". As Paul matured in the Lord, it became "Paul and Barnbus". They were both commissioned and sent out from Jerusalem, by the instruction of the Holy Spirit. How can you say that Barnabus was not an apostle? Or Apollos, Silas and the others that travelled with and worked alongside Paul?

"And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb." Revelation 21:14

I think they are just disciples, as human as we are, but they have very special status. I think the various languages (tongues) they were able to speak since the Day of Pentecost, which made their speech intelligible to many nations who heard them speaking the things of God "in their own tongues" (Acts 2:1-11), and the miracles they performed, were given to them to do as a witness that their message was of God. They had been given a huge responsibility and had to face a great deal of persecution, to the point of death in each except one of them.

Anyway I hold them in high esteem, and because it was given to them to establish the churches and the believers in sound doctrine, I hold their doctrine above all others, the only exception being Christ.

It is possible , as has happened, that missionaries be anti-Gospel, not any kind of messenger of God at all. It was reported publicly , published in the past on the internet , etc, that believers in Africa and Russia asked some groups to stop sending missionaries because they had brought and caused ungodly sins and disruption amongst those of faith and the children/teenagers especially, caused families to break up or to experience grievous troubles (by bringing ungodly teachings, contrary to Christ).
i.e. "Apostle" is not the same as "missionary" in some cases, perhaps most ?

One definition used by some to distinguish difference between Disciple, Apostle and apostle

Disciples
= followers of the Way (saints)
Ecclesia (the Church) = "community of called out ones chosen by God" (today interrupted by some
as Calvinism as well as more liberal seeker-sensitive theology)
Apostles = sent out ones chosen by God to spread the Good News
apostles (missionaries) = sent out ones chosen by the church to spread the Good News

Some contend that pastors have taken the original meaning of the 1st century "church" as being too easygoing (seeker-sensitive theology) resulting in feel good Mega Churches

... and so the debate continues depending on ones denominational/doctrinal beliefs

"What is an apostle?"

Answer:
The word apostle means “one who is sent out.” In the New Testament, there are two primary usages of the word apostle. The first is in specifically referring to the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ. The second is in generically referring to other individuals who are sent out to be messengers/ambassadors of Jesus Christ.

The twelve apostles held a unique position. In referring to the New Jerusalem, Revelation 21:14 states, “The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.” The twelve apostles are also referred to in Matthew 10:2; Mark 3:14; 4:10; 6:7; 9:35; 14:10, 17, 20; Luke 6:13; 9:1; 22:14; John 6:71; Acts 6:2; and 1 Corinthians 15:5. It was these twelve apostles who were the first messengers of the gospel after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It was these twelve apostles who were the foundation of the church—with Jesus being the cornerstone (Ephesians 2:20).

This specific type of apostle is not present in the church today. The qualifications of this type of apostle were: (1) to have been a witness of the resurrected Christ (1 Corinthians 9:1), (2) to have been explicitly chosen by the Holy Spirit (Acts 9:15), and (3) to have the ability to perform signs and wonders (Acts 2:43; 2 Corinthians 12:12). The responsibility of the twelve apostles, laying the foundation of the church, would also argue for their uniqueness. Two thousand years later, we are not still working on the foundation.

Beyond the unique twelve apostles of Jesus Christ, there were also apostles in a generic sense. Barnabas is referred to as an “apostle” in Acts 13:2 and 14:4. Andronicus and Junias are possibly identified as apostles in Romans 16:7. The same Greek word usually translated “apostle” is used to refer to Titus in 2 Corinthians 8:23 and Epaphroditus in Philippians 2:25. So, there definitely seems to be room for the term apostle being used to refer to someone besides the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ. Anyone who was “sent” could be called an apostle.

What exactly would be the role of an apostle outside that of the twelve apostles? That is not entirely clear. From the definition of the word, the closest thing today to an apostle, in the general sense, is a missionary. A missionary is a follower of Christ who is sent out with the specific mission of proclaiming the gospel. A missionary is an ambassador of Christ to people who have not heard the good news. However, to prevent confusion, it is likely best to not use the term apostle to refer to any position in the church today. The vast majority of occurrences of the word apostle or apostles in the New Testament refer to the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ.

There are some today who are seeking to restore the position of apostle. This is a dangerous movement. Frequently, those claiming the office of apostle seek authority equal to, or at least rivaling, the authority of the original twelve apostles. There is absolutely no biblical evidence to support such an understanding of the role of apostle today. This would fit with the New Testament’s warning against false apostles (2 Corinthians 11:13).

In a sense, all followers of Jesus Christ are called to be apostles. We are all to be His ambassadors (Matthew 28:18-20; 2 Corinthians 5:18-20). We are all to be “ones who are sent out” (Acts 1:8). We are all to be preachers of the good news (Romans 10:15).got?

hope this helps !!!

There is a difference between apostle and disciple. A disciple is a student. One who learns from the teacher. An apostle is one who is sent for some purpose having the authority to speak and/or act on behalf of the one sending them. The 12 were first disciples, then Jesus sent them to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. At this point they were apostles. When Jesus sent the eleven after the crucifixion they were apostles. They were sent by Jesus Himself and He gave them authority to act and speak on His behalf. This is why they were able call the miracles into being.

There were false apostles in the early church, as Paul discusses. The word "missionary" is taken from the Latin version of the Bible. It's how "apostle" is translated.

Apostles such as Hudson Taylor did great work in China. Watchman Nee founded several hundred churches in China. He was imprisoned in 1952 and died there 20 years later. An apostle is simply someone who is sent. God raises apostles, not man. Since the church is not established all over the world, there is still a need for apostles. It could be said that apostles are needed in Europe. The church there is in such decline that most of Europe has become a spiritual wasteland.
