We have been through this before.

Hebrews 9:15 was written after the resurrection. Before the resurrection...

Luke 18:
31 Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.

32 For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:

33 And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.

34 And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.

Do you understand that gospel of salvation, the new covenant in Christ, by his death on the cross and resurrection on the third day - was hid from the disciples' understanding, until after the resurrection? When Jesus opened their understanding of it in Luke 24:44-48.

The resurrection of the messiah on the third day in not in Daniel 9. The new covenant in Christ is not the covenant to be confirmed for 7 years by the prince who shall come.

Explained.

What you should be prefacing all of your posts with is....

"Here is what we in New Covenant theology and Covenant theology believe about Daniel 9."

Will you preface yours with:

"Here is what I alone on the planet believe about Daniel 9." ?

In the bible, however, there is a requirement to confirm the Mt. Sinai covenant for 7 years.
Are you calling the reading of the Law every 7 years "confirming the covenant"? Nolidad was helpful enough to provide us with the definition:

"To establish with power or authority"
......reading a covenant isn't confirming a covenant.

What I am saying is the confirming of the covenant for 7 years in Daniel 9:27 - is the reading of the law from the temple mount, on the feast of tabernacles, by the great opposer to Jesus, to the nation of Israel - in compliance with what Moses required in Deuteronomy 31:9-13.

Deuteronomy 31:9-13.
9 And Moses wrote this law, and delivered it unto the priests the sons of Levi, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and unto all the elders of Israel.

10 And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles,

11 When all Israel is come to appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing.

12 Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law:

13 And that their children, which have not known any thing, may hear, and learn to fear the LORD your God, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.

We don't have that sort of requirement in Christianity, to confirm the new covenant in Christ for 7 years, and have never had.

But the Jews do in the Mt. Sinai covenant. If you don't want to believe me, go to the Messiah Truth countermissionary site and in the General Judaism forum, open a new topic on - in the days of the King of Israel/messiah is Deuteronomy 31:9-13 going to be observed?

What they say over there doesn't make them right about Jesus nor in their theology, but it does enlighten us as to how they will be deceived into thinking the great opposer to Jesus is their long awaited King of Israel/messiah.

Nor do we slaughter innocent lambs (thank God) because the end times are behind us. Jesus fulfilled the Law.....and the Mt Sinai religious system has disappeared (just like the author of Hebrews said it would).

Basically what the Jews pursue in their religion is keeping the letter of the law. Regarding that aspect in Christianity, we keep the spirit of the law, but doing so is not the basis for our salvation which is by grace and mercy of Jesus's death on the cross and resurrection on the third day.

mkgal1, from a paper done by the administrator at the messiah truth countermissionary site, copy and paste.... (highlights by me).

http://thejewishhome.org/counter/NewCovenant.pdf

"Therefore, Jeremiah is not speaking of a new Covenant that replaces the previous one. Rather, he is referring to a renewed Covenant, i.e., the original contractual agreement that was made at Mount Sinai will be renewed."

So the Jews view the new covenant in Jeremiah 31 as a "renewal" of the Mt. Sinai covenant. When the great opposer to Jesus confirms the Mt. Sinai covenant for 7 years in Daniel 9:27, to the Jews that will be the renewal in their (misunderstood) view of Jeremiah 31.

Knowing what the Jews (Judaism) believe, helps us in understanding how the end times prophecies will unfold.

Interestingly, someone just started a new thread in their countermissionary forum.

New covenant, not according to the covenant G-d made with their fathers

10 And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles,

Leviticus 23:4
These are the appointed times of the LORD, holy convocations which you shall proclaim at the times appointed for them.
......."convocation" means "rehearsal". These rituals were pictures or symbols of the Messiah. They also set up the prophetic calendar.

The Feast of Tabernacles is also known as Sukkot" or "booths". It's the final feast (the 7th feast). A key aspect of this feast is it represents God dwelling with His people. There is a cycle with the feasts: repentance on the Feast of Trumpets, forgiveness and atonement on Yom Kippur, and rejoicing and be gladness during Sukkot:

Deuteronomy 16:14-15
and you shall rejoice in your feast, you and your son and your daughter and your male and female servants and the Levite and the stranger and the orphan and the widow who are in your towns. "Seven days you shall celebrate a feast to the LORD your God in the place which the LORD chooses, because the LORD your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that you will be altogether joyful.
It was during the Feast of Tabernacles that Solomon dedicated the newly built Temple to the Lord. There were other events in history that involved the Feast of Tabernacles or Sukkot......"That the World May Know | Joy of Living Water" Joy of Living Water

Mkgal1 is absolutely correct; the reading of anything confirms nothing. God is the Author of both old and New covenants. Only God or His Son possess the authority to confirm that which They have authored.

Which the Son has done at Calvary in the New Covenant written in His Blood.

Validated in Daniel 9:27.

Modern Jews aren't written about in the Bible. The end times were about the end of the Mt Sinai religious system. That all perished in 70 AD. There is no Temple to enable the Laws to be observed. The narrative about a "great opposer" is not from the Bible.....it's probably closer to what's in the Talmud.

Douggg quoted:

12 Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law:
The author of Hebrews quotes Jeremiah and explains why this Law had been superceded after Christ's first advent and the fulfillment of the New Covenant:

Hebrews 8:6-13
6Now
, however, Jesus has received a much more excellent ministry, just as the covenant He mediates is better and is founded on better promises. 7For if that first covenant had been without fault, no place would have been sought for a second. 8But God found fault with the people and said:

“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord,

when I will make a new covenant

with the house of Israel

and with the house of Judah.9It will not be like the covenant

I made with their fathers

when I took them by the hand

to lead them out of the land of Egypt,

because they did not abide by My covenant,

and I disregarded them,

declares the Lord.
10For this is the covenant I will make

with the house of Israel

after those days,

declares the Lord.

I will put My laws in their minds

and inscribe them on their hearts.

And I will be their God,

and they will be My people.
11No longer will each one teach his neighbor or his brother,

saying, ‘Know the Lord,’

because they will all know Me,

from the least of them to the greatest.12For I will forgive their iniquities

and will remember their sins no more.”
13By speaking of a new covenant,c He has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.
