I think this is mainly an election time hail Mary. Could be something to it. But you have a looong way to go to demonstrate anything close to a Trump level of corruption and compromise.

There's problems with showing or making public the totality of the emails and text messages.

These aren't public servants operating on government equipment. Private citizens who have rights. Where the ones revealing the information are allowed to show their half...the other half can be construed as electronic espionage. So the news outlets must be careful with how they proceed with the evidence they have. (And it is evidence of crimes)
Just because someone committed a criminal act it in no way justifies another by a third party. Even if it is to let everyone know.

So thats why the media outlets are being careful.
