Vegemite and salad sandwiches, cottage cheese and canned beetroot, snowcones without flavouring, cheese slices and dill pickles, steamed fish mixed into mashed sweet potato with sour cream.

You really like those sharp, tangy flavors, huh? Cheese and pickles sounds delicious! So does the fish, potatoes, and sour cream!

Here's something to think about. When I got up in years I realized that no one in my family or extended family every made Pork or ham gravy? Really strange or maybe not so much? I think I would like either but still I have never made it. How about you and if not why not do you think. Its a strange thing to me.
I learned about an entire new culinary world after knowing someone from Texas :D Southern cuisine is a fascinating culture unto itself. That's how I was introduced to "gravy on everything" lol.

I have always been leery of haggis until I tasted it. It was delicious.
Some of those northern UK/EU dishes are a little scary, but people rave about them. Blood pudding, blood sausage, etc. Some I would not be willing to try, like lutefisk, lol. No, thanks!

I love chocolate gravy with biscuits. I don’t get it often but when I do, I eat a ton of it. Gotta watch how much you eat though because it’s very sweet. :grinning:
Biscuits like... breakfast type biscuits? Or biscuits like the English cookie type biscuits?

Sweet gravy? What are the ingredients? I guess I have never had it unless it is what I put on a hot fudge sundae, lol.

what is scrapple?

A delectable taste sensation...

In all seriousness, it's basically the leftover parts from a butchered pig, mixed with cornmeal and spices. Poor man's food. It's formed into bricks, you slice some off and fry it till it's crispy and brown outside, but soft inside. It is amazing :D It's a huge thing locally. We even have a festival :D

Me too, but I am still afraid of it and won't attempt it. I think it is the ingredients that turn me off?

It looks hilariously awful in raw form! You just have to trust me that it's incredible, lol.

Hi Norway,

If I was a guest in your home I'd do my best eat everything on my plate. Did missions work outside of the US and ate native food mostly which was poor man's food. Just wanted to say that. God bless,
Well, you are right of course but some eat monkey brains, bugs and guts. I have to draw the line somewhere to keep from barfing. No offense, lol. Thanks for your contribution. I suppose if I was starving......

WELCOME, I hope you enjoy this site and learn lots of things when you are contributing.:clap:

man, what is it? We had this in Israel- chocolate syrup on waffles. And I really like my egg plant burgers. Sliced eggplant fried in a lot of butter, it’s positively cholesterol laden. Add garlic salt and your favorite bread and mayo. Don’t eat too often! I should try it with Hollandaise sauce. Yuck, yuck.

Chocolate syrup on waffles sounds delicious! I know we have such things here in the U.S. That eggplant sandwich sounds amazing, too!

I've heard that before. Isn't that a Londener food? Makes no sense

Weren't you alive when life was good and you bought your fries from the store fried in animal fat and served on newspaper with salt and vinegar? Was very young then but you read old news after sharing your chips as a family in the park.
