I received my mail-in ballot yesterday and dropped it off in the mailbox today.
I filled mine out today. And I take it the post office. Tomorrow.

I think that’s illegal

It may depend on the state, but I think generally they do have to give time off, but the don't have to pay for it.

Some jobs require people to be present at a particular time, especially if something must be continuously manned. In that case they may not have to grant time off, but hopefully there is enough shift overlap with in-person voting, but things can get tricky if you have to vote before work, rather than after.

I'm in EMS. There are a lot of things that would normally be illegal that aren't such as guaranteed lunch breaks. With early voting, mail-in voting, etc... there is no reason why they have to allow us time to vote.

Early voting here opens on the 15th and lasts until the 31st, so at some point during that time (probably not the first day since it will likely be crowded) I will go vote in-person. I already have my sample ballot filled out.

This is why I'm not so favorable to the push to make Election Day a national holiday. What we should do is mandate that every state has some form of in person voting that includes some on weekends, some at night, etc. So people on a regular work shift don't find that every time is during their work hours.

The lower down you are on the ladder, the less likely you are to be given (paid or unpaid) time off work to vote. There's a reason that voting is to be done during working hours on a weekday. Don't forget either that it wasn't until the 1850s that all American white, working class men had the right to vote.

I am actually towards the top of the ladder where I work, but it is EMS and they must have ambulances staffed at all times. Since there are only two shifts where I am, there is no coverage.

Besides, they will say you have plenty of time to vote with early voting and mail-in voting.

I’ve been receiving a mail in ballot for the past couple election cycles so I’m already set to get mine in the mail. As soon as I have it I’m filling it out and dropping it off myself.

I voted today. How many have already or will BEFORE election day?
As soon as my ballot arrives in the mail (the 14th I believe) I will fill it out and drop it off. I’m usually a last minute voter but not this time! I’m so excited to see all of the people voting early. It bodes well. I do phone banking with my union (for Biden) and I had a woman tell me the other day that if her house was in fire on Election Day, she would go vote and call the fire dept on her way home. She said NOTHING was getting in the way this time. That cracked me up!

GA mandates one statewide Saturday voting ( Oct 24th this particuar time with counties having the option to increase that to the other Saturdays in that three week span.

Our ballots are due next week. Mine will be filled out the same day and mailed the next. Now my wife is from Venezuela and insists on voting in person. There’s nothing going on here she hasn’t seen before.
