I am an Independent who has voted Third Party since 2000 and will do so again this year, but the President went way overboard tonight with his performance. I think that he ended his campaign tonight with his constant interruptions.

Trump outdid himself in displaying his fascism for all to see. All Biden had to do was to look like a decent human being to look presidential.

Political parties on many sides had their paramilitary enforcers, and the more people say stuff like this, the closer to that we get.

Trump just called for white supremacists, fascism's natural allies, to come to his aid against the left in a nationally televised debate and you're worried I'm being too loud?

I don't think that's what he meant. We'll have to keep an eye on how they interpret it.

Whether it was a Freudian slip or not doesn't really matter, he said it. That tells us alot about what's on his mind. And it's not pretty if you believe in the rule of law.

I didn't see the debate, but I don't think he had much chance even before tonight. Biden had a significant lead in the polls.

From the debate:

Are you willing tonight to condemn white supremacists and groups to say they need to stand down and not add to the violence and number of the cities as we saw in Kenosha and as we’ve seen in Portland?” Chris Wallace, the moderator, asked the president.

“Sure. I’m willing to do that,” said Mr. Trump, quickly adding, “Almost everything I see is from the left wing. Not from the right wing.”

When Mr. Wallace pressed on, the president asked, “What do you want to call them?”

“White supremacists,” the moderator replied.

Proud Boys, stand back and standby,” he said, apparently addressing the far-right group, then added: “But I’ll tell you what. I’ll tell you what. Somebody has to do something about antifa and the left. This is not a right-wing problem. This is left wing.”

This is exactly what Italian fascists did with the Blackshirts and exactly what german fascists did with the Brownshirts: creating a violent, extragovernmental force to physically attack the left.

Trump is fascist

Of course what the NY Times doesn't tell you is that Trump asks, "What should I call them?" Wallace says, "White supremacists." Biden says, "Proud boys," and then Trump goes on to give the quote noted. Following this, rather than similarly decrying Antifa, Biden claims that it is an "idea, not an organization." (footage)

Like many, the NY Times is making a mountain out of a molehill here.

The point he was making at the time was it's mostly left-wing groups causing the carnage. He said it before and he said it after. I don't think that really proves that he was calling on the Proud Boys or anyone to wreck anything or anybody. I do believe in the rule of law, but I don't believe he was calling for lawlessness.

Selective injury in vain. Apparently, you missed DT's constitutional allegiance when he called out Joe's inability to speak validity to the lawbook,

'Joe can't say, law enforcement.'

Did Trump tend to interrupt? Maybe a bit more than Biden BUT....Biden did too and in my opinion did something worse.....he called Trump names of which I'll seek not to go into mentioning. So with both gentlemen I think the criticism of either comes out as a wash.

A wash eh? ...not surprised at all that you would write this.

stand back and standby...

...said the commander in chief to his loyal troops.

Trump literally did what he was asked to do, and goons like yourself take it as an opportunity to claim this nonsense. Honestly, people like you are the problem with our country no less than Trump. I'll double down on that. You would've trotted out out this same foolishness if Trump had used Wallace's exact words, "stand down," and you know it. Unless you think Wallace was baiting Trump?

They’ve interpreted it as Trump asking them to defeat his enemies. They’re crowing about it all over the place.

Calling people names is bad? How bad? And you are blind and deaf if you think Biden was anywhere near as bad as Trump. I don’t think any presidential candidate has interrupted the opponent and the moderator that much. Trump outright refused to let Biden or Wallace talk.

Calling people names is bad?.

Yes Sparagmos I do believe so.

Real bad.

And you are blind and deaf if you think Biden was anywhere near as bad as Trump.

And you're entitled to your opinion of that. I think though when you stand on a national stage and assert as an absolute that another person is a racist and a clown you most certainly are not creating an atmosphere for any helpful dialogue and plus not too politically savvy. I think he might have been better served by saying he wants to believe the best of he President and to encourage a conversation about policy.

I don’t think any presidential candidate has interrupted the opponent and the moderator that much. Trump outright refused to let Biden or Wallace talk.

I agree the President would have been better served to show more restraint. But on the points that Biden could have scored on that he lost by the name calling. Even with what Trump did he never called Biden names. And Biden still did interrupt Trump too let's not pretend that didn't happen at all.
