Jesus speaking ...
Jesus’ Mother and Brothers
(Matthew 12:46–50; Mark 3:31–35)
Luke 8
19Then Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see Him, but they were unable to reach Him because of the crowd. 20He was told, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see You.”21But He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear the word of God and carry it out.”
Luke 8:19-21 are about spiritual wisdom. It is acquired by careful listening and can be lost through apathy and inattention. Jesus gegins to define relationships in terms of those who hear God's word and puts it into practice, which matters even more to Jesus than blood relationships (John 7:5)
Obeying Jesus and listening to his voice is what his mother, followers, family and disciples did. I picture then all at the day of Pentecost frightened stiff, with the doors locked, not knowing what was about to happen even after he appeared to many over the period of 40 days after his resurrection. They obeyed him though and knew he would send another. That was Christ's power (third person of the trinity) giving them power to preach the gospel. suddenly their panic/fear was gone and they burst the doors open, preached the gospel in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth.
Oh what a blessed promise to every Christian, that in our distress in this life, Christ will comfort us and give us power to witness for him......only if we're obedient and listen to his voice.
don't get bogged down in theology or tradition, Christ has so much more for you, more than you could imagine.
God Bless and listen to his voice, 'the (Zada) in the rock' a Siloam inscription found in the tunnel of Siloam, dug by King Hezikiah. Our Rock and Saviour Jesus Christ can talk to us if we listen. He talked to the OT patriachs, he'll not change and will also talk to us.........
