No one gets to choose their beliefs. We believe things because we are convinced by evidence.

It has nothing to do with evidence, it is a spiritual awakening and drawing to God, a knowing in your spirit. Then a realization that you are a sinner who needs to repent. God is a spirit, it is only our spirit that connects us to him.

Oh really? Perhaps you can present that explanation and how it confirms this?
I already offered but it will take a commitment on your part to study evolution. I cannot show it to you in one post.

You mean why did I believe prior to Him revealing Himself? I had several experiences that I thought was God but I didn't know.
You said his revealing himself was not the reason you believed. Now you say you didn’t know before he revealed himself. What made you believe?

I find it humorous that you immediately assume I need to study Evolution. It really isn't that hard you know to present evidence for a certain aspect of Evolution. Let me assure you I don't need a lesson on what evolution is, does or how it does it. I want the evidence you were citing for information in DNA confirmed by evolutionary processes.

I had some experiences that I believed were from God, so I believed that God existed. It wasn't until He revealed Himself that I knew He existed.

Try to remember. What was a teaching of Jesus that I mentioned several times? You even commented on it several times. I think, if you take some time to sit still, clear your mind, and then think back over our exchanges, it will come to you.

Can you tell me or not?

Believe it or not, I do have a life outside this site. I have a marriage and a husband I need to spend quality time with, I have a daughter I need to spend time with, and I have work as well. That's in addition to making sure I have enough time for myself. So, as you can imagine, remaining familiar with details of a conversation we've been having over many pages of a thread over several weeks is not exactly a priority for me.

Could it be that since you were already predisposed to believe in God that you were willing to accept the existence of God with less evidence than you would need to accept the non-existence of God?

I mean, it's easy to convince someone of something if they already suspect it or want to believe it anyway.

Of course I could, but my experience with you has been that you don't really pay much attention to what I say (I'm frankly surprised that you asked me for further discussion on this, not that I mind, but just that you seemed genuinely disinterested in what I had to share about it).

Here's an example of what I mean:
You seem to be trying to change the subject.

I said I prayed for Jesus to come into my heart.

You asked me what it would have been like if that had worked.

I said that if it had worked I'd have felt Jesus in my heart.

Now you are trying to get around it by saying that Jesus never told people to do that.

I responded by going back through all our correspondence to show that I had actually addressed this point several times. I was genuinely shocked that you thought I was trying to somehow trick you with new information when I'd spent so much time already addressing that very issue, often using the very same phrases of speech as you. You can find this information in post # 453, on page 23.

It took me 3 minutes to find this information because I not only paid attention to what you said, but I thought about it carefully. I believe you do not return that favor so I feel, in this case, it would be better for you to think carefully about what I've said, and if you're not interested in doing that, then I'd only be wasting my time anyway.

For someone who keeps telling me that I did it the wrong way and you have the right way, you seem very eager to explain why you're not going to do it.

You are also being very judging of me, despite the fact that I have addressed your judgements AND despite the fact that the Bible tells you not to judge.

How was I predisposed?

Matthew 7:1
1 corinthians 2:14 through 1 Corinthians 2:15

Or, you can simply read all of 1 corinthians 2 which is far better than snippets

Or, actually, you can read all of 1 Corinthians and follow up with 2 Corinthians which is even better

Or read all of the New Testament which is best

Now is actually the best time because with life slowed down, maybe you can fit in some time reading the WORD of TRUTH.

Just a suggestion...

It came to mind because of post 765
