Trump calls for Obama to testify before House Judiciary

Trump should put his actions where his mouth is. He refused to be interviewed by Mueller during the Russian investigation.
Trump should testify first about what he knew.

When Trump leaves the WH you can call for him to testify before Congress. Sitting Presidents cannot be seen as subsidiary to Congress any more than Congress can be seen as being subsidiarity to a President . Obama is an EX President and has not such restriction.

On Obama testifying: @ 2:50ff Guest sez it’s a “separation-of-powers issue” and it’s “troubling” (for a sitting President to “issue orders” to Senator on what hearings to hold and who should be called).

“Unmasking” talk= the FBI had had Kislyak’s phone tapped, and knew that Flynn had discussed sanctions with the Russian, they masked Flynn‘s identity, as they should. Those concerned that this conversation happened, wanted to know who was on the other end of the line, as you’d expect.

Except that the president is subsidiary to Congress. That's why Congress and Congress alone has the power to remove him. Of course the current situation is such that Congress has forgotten that they are a separate branch and not beholden to a President of their party. It's part of why I wish that the Presidency was apolitical. COngressmen are likely to put their party loyalty over thier duty to legislate as best as they can.

Trump is not restricted from testifying before Congress he just can't be forced to and it's not unprecedented. Washington, Lincoln, and most recently Gerald Ford testified or agreed to testify before Congress. Washington appeared before Congress but Congress then decided that he could answer their questions in writing but Lincoln and Ford both answered questions before Congress.

Five months before the election when you have to do things to excite your base you know you have zero chance to win election.

Trump can’t run on his record, so he pulls out his greatest hits to excite his base – bash Obama, attack Clinton, demonize immigrants and foreign country. That will excite the base, but that will not bring back those democrats or independent who voted for Trump in 2016.

Trump had a opportunity to bring the country together to face the greatest crisis the world has seen in 21st century, but he spent last three month calling the virus a hoax, advising people to inject with poison and advice to take a medication which doesn’t work.

He can call Obama to testify, but his own party’s senator wouldn’t listen to him. When your own party’s senator call your idea a “bad idea” in public you know you are weak.

Honestly while we want to know what happened and make sure legislation is enacted to prevent such overreach/illegality/corruption in the future, I dont believe bringing Obama in to testify is anything but theater, and I don't like the theatrics. We don't need him to know what happened, or to prevent a repeat in the future.

He's never going to tell the truth and will do nothing but cover his rear, what's the point?

We don't need him to make certain this never happens again, and we really don't need the circus, most of us normal people are fed up with circus and just want to see good action to ensure this doesn't happen again...
