Wisconsin Supreme Court strikes down state's stay-at-home order - CNNPolitics

From what I heard in a Don Lemon interview on CNN with Governor Evers, the schools will still be closed, but everything else will be open starting tomorrow with no restrictions. Health care workers in that state are due for some rough times.

My state will be taking things much more gradually, but I'm okay with that.

What do you mean “tomorrow”?

Nick's bar on Twitter

That’s from a bar in Platteville, WI (southwest corner of the state) didn’t wait even an hour after the decision to be open.

Well we will have a chance to see if the people of Wisconsin are smarter than the politicians.

Per Twitter, early signs point to no. With an hour of the ruling, pictures of bars full of people started popping up, with hardly a mask to be seen. I hope that a lot of people aren't risking their lives for a few watered down ales.

The proof will be in the pudding though. Let's see how Wisconsin's case numbers progress over the next three weeks.

In any case, this will show the rest of the country what the risks of reopening now might look like.

Indeed, let's check back in 4-6 weeks. Georgia and Wisconsin could be instructive.....

Definitely. It's a ballsy move from the court and legislature here to decide that they want to overrule the governor in an emergency and be the experimental group for opening up during the pandemic.

Let Wisconsin, Georgia, Texas, and Florida be the guinea pigs for these tests. As long as NY and NJ remain steadfast in keeping things mostly locked down I don't mind watching the others. Now, Wisconsinites can enjoy paying $8+ a drink for the pleasure of drinking in a crowd of people where there is likely to be at least a couple coronavirus-infected. What a bargain! LOL

It’s like $5 a drink. Wisconsin is a ridiculously cheap state to drink in. My wife is always shocked when we are there on how much drink prices are

According to NPR radio this morning, some counties and cities in the state have issued their own stay at home orders in response to this. So check with your local governments if you are in the state.

Whoops. Looks like Milwaukee and some other cities and counties still have their own stay at home orders going.

The Safer at Home order was overturned. Now what?

I wonder if the Wisconsin Supreme Court will deal with those, too.
That will probably depend on what body issued them. Was it the entire city council or just the mayor? Was it the entire county comity or the county executive officer?

That is what the suit came down to, executive office overextending their power. I can see it being fine with the counties and cities if the entire council for that governmental body agrees with it.

I am very glad of this as we are looking to take a trip up there to see some family we haven't seen in a long time. Also, much of Texas is already open and is doing just fine.

What everyone should really be taking a look at is how South Dakota is handling the virus since that state never shut down.
