Is faith enough for my sins to be wash in the blood of the lord Jesus Christ?

This gives me peace, many people around my life preach about how you need to meet a standard for your sins to be wash out.
Well... what does scripture say?

2 Peter 1:3-9
..."seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins."

Peter told his readers they had everything they needed for godly living. Yes, they need to add to the work God has done in us through His Son, Jesus. You will find similar passages in Romans 5 and James 1. Peter boils it all down to a single premise, saying we become myopic simply because of single thing: we forget we been washed clean.

So remember you've been washed.

What happens if we get dirty again? Well... what does scripture say?

1 John 1:5-9
"This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

So it all boils down to the answer to a simple question:

Do you believe God's word?

A life of confession and repentance relying by faith on the work God has done in our lives through His Son, Jesus the resurrected anointed one is enough. Through it we do and will do good works. It was the purpose of our salvation.

Ephesians 2:8-10
"For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them."

Not saved by works through faith for grace.

Saved by grace through faith for works.

... yeah I get it. Works are more like a way to say thanks, for the gift of the finish work of Christ. So at the end the only condition is faith.

I was a inappropriate content addict and a sodomite, I worship a false god, I rejected Jesus when I was teenager, my mind was one of a reprobate. I still carry a lot of shame and guilt inside of me.

A lot of people have guilt and shame. God knows your heart. Jesus' blood covers all sin.

Guilt. Shame. Remorse. The three-headed beast from hell when not properly understood. God convict; satan condemns. There is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus (Rom. 8:1).

I feel guilty because I did something wrong.
I feel ashamed because there's something wrong with me (I am something wrong).
I feel remorseful because I regret what I did.

  • Perverted view of guilt: I'm guilty because I've done something wrong and there is no recourse.
  • Biblical view on guilt: Guilt is a good thing because it's an indication my conscience is working correctly. I am guilty because I have done something wrong... so I will make amends where possible.

  • Perverted view of shame: There really is something wrong with me and I am despicable.
  • Biblical view of shame: Yes, there is something wrong with me. It is called sin and it is a condition common to all humanity so I am no different in this regard than anyone else. Satan likes to exploit this condition and abuse my conscience to make me think this condition is without solution but if I am in Christ then I am no longer a slave to sin but a slave of righteousness and I can and will have victory over sin. I will not, however, have complete victory and become entirely sinless on this side of the grave so I face my shame and treat it as ground zero for the battle already won on my behalf. Those who walk in the light can see what God is doing in their life (John 3:19-21).

  • Perverted view of remorse: That bad feeling I'm feeling is what I deserve because I am a horrible person for what I have done. There is something wrong with me: I'm despicable and I should feel catastrophically awful about it.
  • Biblical view of remorse: God gave me emotions and the emotions of regret and remorse show my conscience is working and when they prompt me to confess, repent, make amends (where possible and without causing further harm), seek and give forgiveness, and be reconciled with God, self, and others then the distress of those feelings will pass because they have been addressed correctly.

Correctly understood guilt, shame, and remorse are powerful tools in the battle for obedience. Incorrectly understood they keep you from kingdom living.

Join the club. I was a inappropriate content addict for about 25-27 years or so. Since I was pretty young to about 31 years old anyway. Was a con artist, thief, very angry person with an extreme lack of empathy towards anyone, I did and engage in behaviors that if people of the world actually knew about them and knew my name they would shoot me on sight. I persecuted every Christian that I met exceot for one. I became onlinr friends with him and we still occasionally talk to each other. But we mostly dont because he and his wife have a son now and between helping his wife take care of their 3 year old son it's difficult for him to find time for friends. But we talk occasionally. Like Paul says I consider myself the chief of sinners I was/am that wicked. I say am because I still commit many sins but I dont practice the sins I used to.

Christ still came to me and saved me out of the greatness of his mercy. If your consciousness is telling you to go to Jesus that's a good thing. Dont ignore that call there are no sins that cannot be forgiven except dying without Christ's sacrifice.
