I think I've heard some people try to use Gehenna as proof that Hell isn't eternal (my opinion would be that it is, but I know it's not super clear everywhere). Yet, though the bodies were burned in Gehenna and that was that, Gehenna was also known for fires that essentially never went out. So it really could go either way.
