I love this thread! Sometimes you just need to let them know they're taking it the wrong way. Other times you need to watch what you say, because they've already made the mental choice that they're here to "help you" no matter what you say.

It misses the point, it’s unhelpful, you didn’t ask for any advice, or it’s just plain wrong. What’s the best way to respond without coming off like a know-it-all or making them feel bad?

#1. If not doing so already, make sure you are casting all your cares and anxieties upon the Lord and have a confirmation of peace with Him.
#2. Tell the person that you are casting all your cares and anxieties upon the Lord, and that you are at peace.
#3. Ask them if they want to have the peace of Jesus.
#4. Pray for your enemies and or those who despitefully use you or persecute you.
