Why are so many Christians against annihilation in hell when scripture supports it?

Not sure why you are laughing, but no one has succeeded in fight death "tooth and nail" and thereby never died. No one.

And I have talked to atheists who hope/believe death is the end. There is no payment nor judgment. It is what they are hoping for.

Sorry, but that first sentence make no sense at all to me. It has nothing to do with what I said.
But scripture says there is a hell and the wicked will pay according to their works. It is not the same sentence for all and you did not answer any of my questions.

Not sure why you do not understand that I thought laughing out loud is a strange answer. And I responded that fighting death tooth and nail has never got anyone any head way with God. They all died no matter how hard they fought. That men do not want to die is not the issue. All men know they will. The wicked hope there is no judgement and no punishment. I am not sure why this is so confusing to you.

During the holocaust/wrath of 70AD Jerusalem, people did indeed desire death rather than the famine and flames [Revelation 9:6]........

Josephus is a good read concerning that:

Luke 23:
28 Being-turned yet toward them Jesus said: "Daughters of-Jerusalem no be-lamenting over Me, moreover for yourselves be-lamenting, and upon the children of ye.
29 That behold! Are coming Days in which they shall be declaring 'happy are the barren-ones, and the wombs which not generate, and breasts which not suckle.
[Luke 21:29]
30 Then they shall be beginning to be saying to the Mountains: 'Be falling on us'!, and to the Hills 'Cover us'! [Revelation 6:16]

Revelation 6:16 They are saying to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lambkin! [Luke 23:30] 17For the great day of Their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”

The Destruction of Jerusalem - George Peter Holford, 1805AD
Proof that Matthew 24 was fully fulfilled in 70 AD!

Meanwhile the horrors of famine grew
still more melancholy and afflictive.
The Jews, for of food were at length compelled to eat their belts, their sandals, the skins of their shields, dried grass, and even the ordure of oxen.

In the depth or this horrible extremity, a Jewess of noble family urged by the intolerable cravings of hunger, slew her infant child, and prepared it for a meal................

At the recital of this melancholy and affecting occurrence, the whole city stood aghast, and poured forth their congratulations on those whom death had hurried away from such heartrending scenes.[Revelation 9:6]

Indeed, humanity at once shudders and sickens at the narration, nor can any one of the least sensibility reflect upon the pitiable condition to which the female part of the inhabitants of Jerusalem must at this time have been reduced, without experiencing the tenderest emotions of sympathy, or refrain from tears while he reads our SAVIOUR'S pathetic address to the women who " bewailed him" as he was led to Calvary, wherein he evidently refers to these very calamities : "Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but for yourselves and fur your children ; for, behold, the days are coming in which they shall say, 'Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the breasts that never gave suck." Luke xxiii. 29.

You needn't have done all of that cutting and pasting. Anyone who commits suicide shows us that some desire death. All of them assume that there is no judgment and no punisment after death. And that is my point. The wicked very much hope there is no hell and no justice after death. Of course there are some sufferings worse that death for those who believe there is no justice after death.

What does any of that have to do with the discussion? NO one in their right mind thinks no one ever wants to die. We don't need the Bible to tell us that. Just live in the world for a few decades.

Yes, those in prison who are on death row--they will fight against that and want to have it changed to life in prison. I never said a thing about fighting against the first death and succeeding! But plenty of people do fight against it! They don't go down easily. They will do everything they can to live as long as possible. We all die the 1st death--only ones that won't will be the ones alive at His 2nd coming.
You said that men want to die I said nobody wants to die, but we all do. You bet that those in hell will be wanting to die---I've had burns, even little wants have you screaming at the top of your lungs.

Alright I give up. Keep repeating that some men at some times seek death, or an ending to this bodily life and keep thinking you are bringing something no one ever knew before. Cut and paste all kind of proof that some men and some times in history and will be in the future that some things in life are worse than physical death of the body. Maybe there is someone somewhere who never heard of suicide.

You really think Jesus and the angels have nothing better to do than to sit around and watch people being tortured for eternity??
Jesus and the angles and the saints with them are very busy. The other questions are personally insulting.

What makes you think eternal death is not a punishment? The time spent in hell is up to God and is "according to their works." There is justcie for their sins---what makes you think that justice for stealing $5.00 is eternal torture?
That is the same sentence as a serial killer's---why is it justice?

All the evil doers of the world hope and trust there is no hell, just death. That is their most treasured desire as regarding death and thereafter. LOL! Just the first death is fought tooth and nail---The same sentence handed out for stealing $5.00 or for killing millions of people---eternal pain in hell---is simply not justice and not "according to their works."
They have to burn in the presence the angels and the Lamb---
Rev_14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
You really think Jesus and the angels have nothing better to do than to sit around and watch people being tortured for eternity??
Yeah that doesn't seem right to me either............

Revelation 14 and 19 shows both a people and great City, [70AD Jerusalem], going up forever.

The Great City/Harlot/Queen Revelation chapts 17-19

How can that be, when we can see Jerusalem today as a regular City! What?

Reve 19:3 "The smoke of the tormenting them/Her ascending Ages of the Ages"

Revelation 14:
10 And he is drinking out of the wine of the fury of the God, of the having been blended undiluted in the drink cup of the wrath of Him and he shall be being tormented in fire and sulfur in sight of holy Messengers and in view of the Lambkin
11 And the Smoke of the Tormenting/basanismou <929> of Them is ascending into Ages to-Ages. And not they are having rest Day and Night

Revelation 19:3 And a second-time they have declared "allelouia and the Smoke of Her is ascending into the Ages of the Ages".

Kindgdom Bible Studies Chapter 7 "Lake of Fire"
TORMENTED IN THE PRESENCE OF THE LAMB

.............Ah, the torment comes not from the Lamb. The torment lies within the bosoms of the tormented. The Scripture does not say that the Lamb torments them! If you think it does, you are mistaken. It states that THEY ARE TORMENTED IN THE PRESENCE of the Lamb. What a thought! TORMENTED IN THE PRESENCE. The Lamb is merely present. He does not torment. The condition is within themselves...................

You probably don’t communicate it well.
next----Yes, the wicked do not want to go to hell, that is very true and when they get there they will be wanting to die---anyone is pain does. What makes you think eternal death is not a punishment?
Because the wicked hope for it and consider it the best outcome, no justice befalls them that they’re aware of. Unconsciousness in sleep we all consider a delight.
The time spent in hell is ip to God and is "according to their works." There is justcie for their sins---what makes you think that justice for stealing $5.00 is eternal torture?
That is the same sentence as a serial killer's---why is it justice?
When you see God’s justice you’ll see it differently.
