Events of the past week have made clear that the so-called mainstream news media is little more than a PR outlet for the rich and powerful. The huge monied interests which control these outlets are completely uninterested in engaging in any journalism which might portray in a negative light those who control so much of the country.

The specter of negative publicity for such people is the reason ABC spiked the Epstein story. Whether it was primarily because of the wishes of those at Windsor Castle or to minimize negative publicity for Hillary as she was seeking the presidency doesn't matter much. The truth is coming out CLEARLY for all to see.
ABC Insider: Why I, alone, released the Amy Robach Epstein tape.

To those wrongfully accused:

It is terrible that you have been lashed out at by the company.
...
To ABC News:

I sit right here with you all in complete shock. I, like many, are at a loss for words on how this has been handled. Instead of addressing this head-on like the company has in the past, it has spun into a mission of seek-and-destroy. Innocent people that have absolutely nothing to do with this are being hunted down as if we are all a sport. I challenge all of you to actually look inwards and remember why this company engages in journalism. We all hold the First Amendment at the foundation of this company, yet forget its history, its purpose, and its reasoning for even coming into existence to begin with. How lost we are… yearning to be found. I went to Project Veritas for the sole reason that any other media outlet else would have probably shelved this as well. I thank all of them, and James, for seeking truth
.

In seeking retribution, those in control at ABC and CBS didn't care whether they destroyed the right person or not. The objective was simply to send a message. (Good luck with that. I suspect they've simply angered more employees instead.) Taking the path of retribution, instead of reflecting on past bad decisions damages your credibility immensely among those who still held your networks in high regard.

One is reminded that the cover-up is always worse than the crime.

Employment Law protects innocent employees from unjustified dismissal. There are employment lawyers who don't charge a fee unless they win the case and then their fee is a small percentage of the settlement order. I would fully support the innocent employee engaging a lawyer and suing the company for as much as possible. Let the evidence come forward and whether correct procedures have been followed, and the employment court judge can make his unbiased decision. I hope that if the employee is innocent, that the court order is large enough to hurt the company and teach it a lesson they will never forget!

In at-will states, there are very few protections for employees against dismissal.
That's a pity. Opens the way for employee to be exploited by employers. New Zealand must be civilised than those states in the way they protect the rights of employees. Also, we don't extort mega bucks out of sick people down here either, so we are more compassionate toward vulnerable people than the dog-eat-dog American society.

I know the term oxymoron has to do with figures of speech but I wonder if ABC maybe should be considered now the oxymoron network.

They're supposed exist to get the scoops, so a get the scoop...not get the scoop network. Things is when they demonstrate they're going to be selective on just what scoop they reveal based on personal preference than I think many question their rightness or ethical place to share anything the come to learn about anything.

I expect the woman who was fired will be just fine. She's a celebrity now. Megyn Kelly interviewed her yesterday. She literally didn't know what hit her. She'll do interviews, maybe write a book ... or have a ghost writer do it.

Her career opportunities are now much broader than before she was unjustly terminated.

Surely she has talked to attorneys. To assume she hasn’t is to insult her intelligence.

And that is why I support the Elected President Donald J. Trump. I was NEVER dismissed from my sweet high paying job last year; it was outsourced to the Philippines. God Bless the President that is making America Great and saving American jobs! The Carrier air condition plant, Coal jobs, and my old job are just some of the many successes of the Trump administration and I am eagerly looking forward to two or three more terms of the most successful and smartest President to ever lead America.

If she's smart, she'll simply move on. She's been blessed with opportunities now she never would have had before.

If she pursues the legal route she'll become angry and bitter. She'll have to relive the trauma again and again. Her life will likely be tied up in the legal system for years and she may never move past the momentary trauma of losing a job.

Perhaps, but I'd sure like to see what comes up in discovery.

Agreed.

OTOH, this involves a 25-year old woman just beginning her working career. She was blind-sided by all of this and now mostly needs to get her life back to normal.
