Is it possible to press on without some of those innermost and secret intentions of the heart not aligning with the word (Hebrews 4:12)? Make that heart play it's intentions on the big-screen for you and God! Lest you possess something better than the man himself,

For I know that good itself does not dwell in me,
that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire
to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out, ,
Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me, ,
What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from
this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God,
who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

I think that when we don't press on and end up going on a different course to the one that God has provided for us, He has his way of getting our attention and bringing us back on track. Such is the story of Jonah who fled and went off to sea in the complete opposite direction to which God had commanded. God was able to rescue him from his predicament and He eventually travelled to Nineveh as he had been told to do!

From time to time, we do mess things up. We are ignorant and even stubborn at times. Even the greatest saint has made errors of judgement. Sometimes we have to accept the consequences of our decisions, but when we put our trust in God, He will find a way for us to do what He wants us to do.

So true, I like Pilgrims Progress, keeping to The Way can be full of pitfalls,
