• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I suffer from ocd and I pray to the Generic God who is different than Christian God

My ocd was worrying me by telling stuff without my will like

ocd: do not eat that food. you may have made a promise without your will to the Generic God not to eat it.

I was very worried but I knew they were thoughts without my will. ocd was telling me stuff like

ocd: throw away the food to calm down eventhough you know they are thoughts without your will. You can also calm down by making a promise without your will to the Generic God to eat your food and not throw it away.

I do not remember how I reacted to these thoughts without my will but I probably rejected them cause they were thoughts without my will.

I do not remember what happened next. I ate the food. and there is a chance thoughts without my will by ocd like

ocd: better eat it than throw it away.

after I ate it, ocd started telling me new stuff like

pcd: what about the papers and the bag that the food was covered with? (it came from a delivery restaurant) you must not throw them away because you may have made a promise without your will not to throw them away. you don't remember a lot of stuff about the thoughts that happened without your will. what if you made a promise without your will? what if you forced yourself to make a promise without your will? what if the promise without your will is valid?

same thing happened in the past with a store, ocd was trying to convince me to make promises in order to calm myself down but they are thoughts without my will.

By far your best solution is to find a good confessor (καλός πνευματικός) at a Church near you to talk with him. Here are some guidelines for confession.

Do not believe in your thoughts (I told you also on the other site the same thing) because otherwise you will end badly. Do not talk with them and pray. Say Jesus' Prayer and use a prayer rope for this. Be constant.

Also, do not neglect your medical treatment, till, with the help of the confessor you will be back on track.

I just want you to know that I understand how you are feeling because I have ocd and it can be really hard to deal with. Just remember that God really loves you and there is only one God and that's the God of the Holy Bible who loves you and is always with you. If you ever want to talk you can message me. Jesus loves you and He is our Lord and Saviour.

Not sure what this "generic god" nonsense you are talking about is, or how you can say that and yet call yourself a Christian, but if you are as you claim, then your God has a name. Your savior has a name. Your Lord and Master has a name. If you fail to recognize them and you are beset by evil spirits, then you need to repent of your false god and pray for Jesus to deliver you.

Again there is no such thing, there is only one God. I say this with concern you need to get professional help not help from forums or the internet, please get some professional help please

I do not.

Reading your threads, your OCD appears fairly controlling of your actions. I think it would be beneficial for you to see a specialist. They might be able to help with that.

Until then my advice is to follow the Lord Jesus the Christ, and pray to God in the name of Jesus the Christ for deliverance from your afflictions.

You could try writing out a plan next time you buy food or go to the grocery story:

I will buy "that" item.
I will take "it" home.
I will eat "it" at some point.

Take the plan with you and when you're OCD starts in look at your plan and do your own will, which is the plan.

It might be useful to have the plan available to review whenever your OCD starts to bother you. Cheers :) I hope you get to feeling better.

I have repeatedly told you that this generic god to whom you pray, instead of the real one, is satan.

Why do you think you have OCD? Satan has given it to you.

BTW, a promise made without your will is neither binding nor valid.

It must be difficult to deal with a mind that is being deceptive. You have been blessed with the ability to identify your OCD and therefore you have an opportunity to take control. You will need help. You have to find someone who can help you develop strategies to deal with your overwhelming thoughts.

I'm praying that you find a way to get the help you need.

There is one God and only one God and I know for a fact He is looking out for you. He wants you to take his hand and go with him to find the help you need.

Well, for starters, you are praying to a "genetic God", that sounds like a genetic medicine; You want the real thing. You are not praying to the real God of the Universe.

I gave you a few pointers in another of your posts. I stand firm on them.
