You know what, you may have hit on an example I missed, though it is far less common today. Catholics have, in the past, have been believed to be loyal to the Vatican, potentially more than they were loyal to the nation they lived in. It was an actual concern people had with Kennedy. Thanks.

I care about Israel, probably more than any other foreign nation in the end. But I am not loyal to Israel. I am loyal to the United States. I am a citizen of the United States, not a citizen of Israel. I am an American and should not somehow be assumed to have loyalty to any other nation.
I honestly assumed he meant to the Jewish people.

I think you guys are misunderstanding Trump. This isn't promoting a racist trope. Well.. not primarly or conciously.

Trump has, at his core, a very simple worldview. If he does something for somebody, he expects that somebody to be "loyal" to him and to support him in every endeveaour. It doesn't matter how small that something is or if that somebody even wanted it done, as long as Trump has done it, he wants absolute loyalty. And if this loyalty isn't given, that somebody isn't loyal.

Of course, Trump himself can cancel this "deal" at any time he pleases.

That's his MO.

This is a video from March 2018 that sums it up perfectly:

Being suspected of loyalty to some other country is what put Japanese people in camps. I wonder if that could ever happen to Jews?

Suspected of being loyal to fellow Jewish people instead of the country they were in put Jews in camps in the 1930s and 1940s. So, yes.

Alright folks, I really want to know. Why is it assumed that I am either loyal to Israel or automatically going to be against anybody who has found a non-violent way to protest policies of Israel they disagree with?

Do Irish Americans face the same questions with regard to Ireland?
Makes me wonder - our family on my father's side came from Germany to the US in the early 1800's. So when my father went to war against Germany in WWII, was he 'disloyal'?
Trump's comment is an anti-semetic trope.

Yes, Kennedy had to deal with that when he ran for president. He had to assure people he would obey the constitution and be loyal to the US.

Just how much power do you think these ladies have?
Don’t forget, the dems are going to throw at least one presidential election cycle to give AOC a shot the first year she’s eligible.

And the speech he gave assuring a room full of protestant ministers in Texas that he supported church state separation and his first loyalty was to the US before the Vatican turned the stomachs of every republican candidate in 08.

“If you vote for a Democrat, you’re being disloyal to Jewish people and you’re being very disloyal to Israel" - Trump today. When asked about American Jews, he started going on about how much he's done for Israel. This is the same man that stood in front of Jews and called Netanyahu "your prime minister".

I'm starting to believe that the man does not understand that not all Jews are Israelis.

Shocking. Trump said something stupid that shows he doesn't understand basic facts about the world.

It will be newsworthy when he goes for an extended period of time without doing that, assuming that it is even possible for him. Ugh.

Trump Revives Anti-Semitic Attack On Jewish Democrats: 'Very Disloyal To Israel'

Democrats and Jewish leaders were quick to condemn the president for invoking the anti-Semitic “dual loyalty” trope, which accuses Jewish Americans of having dual loyalties to the U.S. and Israel.

Nearly 80% of Jewish voters in the U.S. voted Democratic in the 2018 midterm elections, according to the Pew Research Center.

“We are sick and tired of Trump’s repeated use of anti-Semitic tropes and his inciting of hate and violence against Jews,” the Jewish Democratic Council of America tweeted Wednesday. “The Jewish community is less safe today because of Donald Trump.”

That's all you got? Not even a pathetic attempt to defend his Hitler-esque comments on Jewish loyalty?

Hitler was not loyal to the Jewish people.
