You know, if the G-Countries Summits were held in Greenland, it would be too cold for most protesters .

LOL!

IF global warming is real... why wouldnt you want to buy an ice covered land mass before the ice melts and a new land mass with unknown levels of resources are exposed?

Better to buy it while it lacks suitors than when everyone comes knockin.

I dont see it happening, even if greenland said it wanted to sell... but.. I can see why youd want to try.

I can't tell if this is a joke or not, but the idea of Trump buying Greenland is just crazily absurd. It's no more different than the US wanting to buy Denmark. Needless to say, that's not how the world works.

There are only a few 10 thousand people living there.
The sand and gravel is worth a huge fortune. Building sand is becoming much more expensive and difficult to get, look it up. In 50 years it will be even more difficult to get sand.
Sand off deserts is no good, the grains are too smooth for concrete.

I'm going to buy Greenland. Greenland is big. Really big. Biggest island, bet you didn't know that. Bigger than Australia. I offered to buy Australia from the UK, but the Democrats scuttled the deal.

Actually it is smaller than Australia, maybe you meant to say "Bigger than Austria."?

Its not the first time the US has expressed interest in purchasing Greenland... so its not just Trump. (Truman)

If its "not how the world works" Explain how the US owns Alaska... or Louisiana.....etc.

It hasnt happened in a long time, but it DOES indeed "work that way". Money talks in this world.

Well, for starters, have a look at how the Danish politicians responded:
'We’re not for sale,' Greenland tells Trump

Totally not unheard of:

The U.S. chose the name "Virgin Islands" when it took formal possession of the Danish West Indies on March 31, 1917. The U.S. bought the islands from Denmark for $25 million. The islandchain consists of St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. John, and about 50 other small islands, most of which are uninhabited.

About 56,000 is the population mostly indigenous.

Ah a technicality:

Greenland is the world's largest island (Australia and Antarctica, both larger than Greenland, are generally considered to be continental landmasses rather than islands).

The question here is whether Denmark had the right to sell someone else's home.

Have a look at my first post. #43.

I already said I don't see it happening even IF they hadn't said that.

You said it doesn't work that way, I simply pointed out, it does.

I’m well aware that boarders change for a variety of reasons. The British empire is a good example of this. But the idea of the US buying Greenland - from a Scandinavian point of view - is simply bizarre and somewhat offensive. It’s like if Denmark wanted to buy a state in America. It’s nonsensical, and this is why Europeans respond with jokes.

Thats fine, let them joke... couldnt care less.

But to act like its the first time to ever happen, so that the people out there obsessed with loathing Trump can mock him... its not only historically inaccurate but is annoying propaganda as well.

As far as someone else trying to buy a state in the US... I dont see it as offensive or bizarre. Id simply see it as someone wanting what we have, knowing the sale would never go through... end of story, life goes on.

Trump has expressed serious interest in buying Greenland

President Trump has reportedly expressed interest in acquiring the northern island country of Greenland.

A new report from the Wall Street Journal reveals that Trump has asked his advisers whether the U.S. can acquire Greenland, an autonomous Danish territory, during "meetings, dinners, and passing conversations" because of Greenland's "abundant resources and geopolitical importance," according to White House sources.

While some of Trump's advisers support the idea as a "good economic play," others dismiss the inquiry as a "fleeting fascination that will never come to fruition."

Coincidentally, the president will be making his first visit to Denmark next month, although the sources say the scheduled trip is completely unrelated.
